The dust has settled, racer-heads have relaxed, the hangovers are in full-attack mode and there is a whole year to wait to see the World Champ's bling show again. Who do you think won the colourway championship in Val Di Sole?
Brayton just for the sheer level of one off anodized goodness from hope. Seemed most of the other bike had as killer paint jobs but were running mostly stock looking parts, or just had some different decals on forks etc.
Murder: Brayton's bike - the ano is amazing but the frame color pattern hurts my head Kiss: For a champs bike - Minnnaar's bike - they should be over the top Marry: For a bike I'd ride every day - Connor's bike
Since mountain biking is all about fashion now, maybe it's the right word. You can match your bike coloring to your spring/summer/fall collection. How sweet you'll all look
@davidsimons: Disclaimer: this is just a regular ejaculation, written in a calm manner, this is not meant to be a rant, neither against you or anyone else... Every single hobby activity human beings get involved becomes a lot about fashion and how is that a bad thing all in all? The constant fight of premodrial urges of fitting in and trying to stick out, which invevitably merge from time to time. I know a few people who swear about not being into fashion and they either look like dorks or like dicks. My dad for instance. He tries very hard to look like he is not trying hard. He will go to ta shop to buy a jacket, find something he genuinely likes, come to the counter to pay for it, and if the dude at the counter say: oh these sell very well, they are fashionable - he will go hang it back. He is a real hipster. He is so hipster that he doesn't even look like one. Look at those guys building all black bikes, or completely mismatching kits - you look at it and you know right away: that guy cares more about looking like he does not care about how he looks like, so effectively he cares mor about his looks than most fashionistas out there.
See, removing the logo tampers with the tires state creating a much weaker tire and the is why his tire got messed up for his race run... if not that, its just cause he never has any luck for world champs. you decide on which one.
Think it's confirmed unfortunately - he won't be on the WC circuit anyway.
Claudio said during his race run yday that he's concerned with his carbon footprint (e.g. flying around the globe for a bike race). Fingers crossed he'll hitchhike round the European races and still be visible on the race scene.
A shame for the sport but respect for making a change and sticking with his morals - if he was going to quit for any reason, I'm glad it's one as noble as climate change.
@shbell23: Hes promoting cycling in a way thats probably only secondary to the tdf, someone else is going to step right in and take his place, he seems to spend most of his time ragging knackered motocross bikes around, lives on a boat presumably with a generator. I love the lad to bits, but hes a total div. Im going to start a tyre fire, for every co2 he saves ill burn 3, blackmail him back on the circuit.
@pbuser2299: I agree, that plane is going to fly with or without him on it. Like you said, he's still using emissions. The whole thing seems sketchy to me.
Like it would make any difference, the planes will still take off without him.
I believe it's more personal reasons... Mentor is retiring, He seems to have lost a bit of drive post injury. Maybe just burnt out by the circuit.
I'm hoping during any break he takes he has an epiphany regarding what a sweet life he was living and get's back to racing as soon as possible.
WC weekends won't be the same without the Syndicate! It will down to GT and Propane to step up and keep us entertained with some fun edits!
@Garpur44: I doubt Roskopp will let what they have go. Luca Shaw, Minnaar and a player to be named later will hold the torch quite nicely. I see Peaty's involvement given his own programme being tied in. Doubt they'd let Sessy go for obv reasons and Marshy goes where Minnaar goes. Dougie is an unknown for me but seems very happy with the team.
@masonstevens: surely Al is capabale of being recycled but the stock still has to be created, shipped to the Al plant, then to the mfg, then the tools had to be made to make the bike, and so on and so on.... But hey, we're having this conversation and im sure josh would view that as a victory.
@Ride12: I heard a rumour he was going to cash in on a big team offer (?something like Gwinear did) but I doubt any team will give him and Marshy the free reign/development opportunities he's been afforded at Syndicate. He doesn't really need the money anyway. (Not a dig, guy is a legit good businessman)
If that wasn't Gwin's bike most probably wouldn't have voted for it. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look outstanding either. I'm not a huge ratboy guy, but his bike looks incredible.
I'd vote for Rachel's stripped down design too. Very nice.
Ratboy's is sick considering his kit.
But Minnaar's was dope as hell and matched up with his lid really well too.
I really liked Atherton's as just a daily type of set up. Nothing special but dope looking for a daily type of bike.
Anyone notice Gwin as a custom alu seatstay/horst link? It's easier to see in the vital slideshow with the pic of his blown wheel but looking closely you can tell by the caliper mounts being different from Angel's
I think this years paint jobs are a bit over the top but that is the reality of people viewing internet content on smart phones. They really have to jump out at you on a 5" screen.
Went with Christian Textor's. The grey with black on top is great looking, then the bit of colour makes it not look low-vis/gothic/blacked-out, and the whole thing fits together really well, including components.
for me silly is PB doing an article like this since there was an article with the same bike colour thing some days ago. fashion sucks so I dont give a fuc of what colour is the bike. as long as the bike works well and the rider do a good job. colour dont win races serves only to show up I dont give a shi.. about colour and fashion
@mudmandhbrazil: right. No is saying that isn't a totally valid opinion. The question is why then take the time to click on said article and comment about how it sucks and is stupid. Do you think that your feeling on the matter is going to make us realize the error in our ways? No one asking you to appreciate these...
But what I say is colour was never a deciding factor for buying my bikes only functionality. Just trying to show that I dont care about colour. I prefer to hear that a DH bike has a new better tecnology on suspention or brakes or tires. I dont care if a racer will have a new colour or new kit. I jist care about riding bikes. To much bike riders only worry if the bike is beautiful and the bike is all worng in tuning and sag...
@mudmandhbrazil: I'm just messing with you man. I honestly don't care too much about color schemes either, but it is neat to occasionally see some rad designs. A lot of these riders definitely deserve a sick whip for the big race.
@serathestaii: Who actually SAID he is though? I've only read hints and random stuff. I think something will change, but I doubt it will be that.
I think he wants to be like Fairclough, not known for being a winner and podium contender, so the pressure is off and he can clown around. My guess is he "re-brands" himself.
@bizutch: I think you may be onto it here, seems setting up 50/01 was just a pre-cursor of what's to come. Allows him to do edits of out digging and shredding in the woods with his mates, enjoying 'nature' and still relevant in the biking world and holding on to some sponsors. Maybe take a short break from racing and after he has had some fun with the low stress side of it come back to racing and see how it goes...
Gwins bike or minaars were the only true world champs bikes, the rest looked riddiculous or overdone, or they didn't even use colours of their country *cough* athertons *cough* scott
Murder: Brayton's bike - the ano is amazing but the frame color pattern hurts my head
Kiss: For a champs bike - Minnnaar's bike - they should be over the top

Is it confirmed. Is he leaving?!

I think someone should let her know.
Publically, over a microphone, in a swiss accent.

Is he moving teams?
