The Pacific Northwest is blessed with some of the best trail builders in North America. This means that some of the best riding can be found here. Mild fall and winter weather means a longer riding season than many of our neighbors.

In early November we took a road trip to Pemberton picking up Andrew Baker and Beth Parsons along the way. We were threatened by a rain that never materialized and had a couple of perfect days of British Columbia single track.

My mother dislikes mountain biking and even SHE says I should ride Pemberton! Does riding happen year round there?
  • 9 2
haha, goggles and all the little popping he did to get some air time, while the chick was like whatever dude lets just ride and not try to steeze it for the camera

I think he is popping off stuff for fun, not the camera. Having ridden with him this is pretty much how he always rides, camera or not. As for the goggles they have been surgically attached to his face, something about a metal shaving accident in junior high.

Eyes are the most exposed part of the body that will not heal if damaged. I don't blame him at all

Redrain that's not true your eye heals faster than any other organ of the body. Had a metal particle drilled out after less than 24 hours because my eye healed over it. This is what the ophthalmologist told me.

You are lucky. I should have been more specific. The retina cannot repair itself but parts of the eye can, if you lose the retina you are fucked. Trust me I know, my mom lost her sight in both eyes this year. There is some promising research into repairing the retina with stem cells, but if you lose the entire retina there is no way for this method to work.

Sorry to hear that that's horrible. Yeah the spec landed in my eye on the iris and I couldn't see it and when it was still hurting the next day I learned the hard way what has to happen.

I'm in the process of planning a trip next year with Oregon, Washington and BC. Pemberton is one of the areas I'm looking to hit up. What are some must-do trails that locals love?

All mountain. I'll have a Patrol

@Clamber Bob Gnarly would be my favourite in pembie, starts a bit DH worthy, but amazing, and turns into a super fun flowy trail halfway through. Pretty much everything on the same hill is amazing though, and if you wanna get a long fast descent in, make sure to check out Ressurectum. I ride that one on a DH bike only, but I see people ride it on XC bikes all the time.

Cream Puff and Meat Grinder are the trails in the video, they have some really fun sections and some amazing views.

Comfortably Numb in Whistler. If you are looking for a longer trail. I find there is not enough like it.

As your preference is AM and you're coming from SLC, I'd hit up the Phil's Trails network just west of Bend; lots of interesting terrain from CC to FR (especially at The Lair and The Whoops), deeper shuttles into Phil's out of Pine Mt. Sports bike shop if that is your style. Love that place, plus you could run up to Bachelor for some lift-assist action if you like, tons of free camping west of Bend too (hit up McMenamins Old St. Francis school for a $5 big hot tub soak and a shower). As was mentioned above, Blackrock west of Salem is incredible for FR (all levels), as is Sandy Ridge east of Portland. Post Canyon is my favorite place in Hood River, anything from CC to FR and is a huge network of trails. Even a small place west of Portland called Stub Stewart that has a couple short (1/2 mile) low to mid-level FR stuff plus some nice CC trails.

It'll be an awesome trip.

Pemberton is awesome! The back drop of Mt Currie(?) is stunning, they have a really helpful bike shop where U can get at a trail map and other things. After the ride is done there is some good café's to chill at.

Whenever going to Whistler I suggest you make the trip up to Pemberton too!

Owl-x that's what they'd look like on your cock... Needle dick! Who cares what width bars you run, so long as you're having fun. Can't believe anyone would have a personal preference different to yours?! What a strange world! MERRY XMAS ALL!

I could have gone riding here last time I was in Vancouver, but no I chose to go present shopping for my family. Stupid me.

Does anyone know what the song is?

goggles seemed a little unnecessary. looked like it was just a social/fun ride.
  • 1 0
The weather report said rain, so for continuity the goggles stayed on.
  • 1 0
and dirt can still get in your eyes, no beuno, goggles on!

Was the 2nd bike in the vid a 29er ?
  • 1 0
Both bikes are 650b, 160mm travel, full carbon
  • 1 0
Cheers must be me 2nd bike the wheels looked bigger
  • 1 0
Indeed. I guess it's the small frame that makes the wheels looks so big.
  • 1 0
Beth is on a small frame and it is possible that is why the wheels look larger.
  • 1 0
Sweet vid! Wondering when I'll get to see this at the Polygon shop floor.
