Looks like it's so much more stable though, thanks to it's image stabiliser. Been making more and more edits with my GoPro and been disappointed with the unstable footage.
Locoola: they don't pull the cameras up more, because then the "bell" isn't seen, the same is whit redbull, just look up on all the videos from the sponsored riders.
I noticed that on the run where the guy wiped out last time. The Redbull logo was perfect, i think that is the reason for the bad camera angle. Same here with the perfectly placed Bell sticker.
Going back to talking about Sonycam. Yeah I noticed how much smoother the footage is, huge difference in overall quality, even if it might not shoot the highest settings vs. Gopro Black, image stabilizer just makes it so much smoother. Color settings seem bit flat as to be expected like GoPro. Also, sound quality/setting is also much much better, differentiates and separates the wind noise out fairly well while keeping the mid frequencies clean. If they incorporate more features/resolution I'm sure they'll beat out GoPro, given the time. Marketing-wise they're breaking in the scene alright.
I kept lifting my head up like I could control the angle to the camera, I know how a wheel spins when rolling forward. LOL The right angle make or breaks a video and this breaks.
It's literally cropping the image as well. Not worth it. Unless I am mistaken and it is a tiny gyro that moves the sensor in the housing... but I doubt that.
The Sony is more aerodynamic than the gopro, several tests were done with both cameras and it was determined that racers were losing out on 3sec every mile traveled, the tests were undertaken in zero atmosphere environments by the worlds leading scientists, all scientists were came to the conclusion that while the gopro had a better field of view it was not worth it due to the speed lost under competition circumstances.
Not sure if its 3 Sec a mile, but definitely has an impact. I have no doubt that scientists in charge of athletic performance and efficiency have studied the effects of gopro. Look a the past winter olympics, each of those competitors have rocket scientists that are doing everything they can to reduce drag anywhere from 7% to 17%...they certainely could not, even if they wanted to wear a Flat Camera on top of their heads during a true race run.
And i own a GP but i rather be able to see what im doing rather than have the whole screen shake for 3 minutes straight like a lot of MTB videos. The FOV isnt as good, but there is obviously less distortion to begin with which gives it s better feeling imo.
These dogs have no owners. We should be grateful they're not poisoned or killed otherwise, as happened prior to the European football champs in the Ukraine in 2012.
So. Much. Sketch. Seriously, anyone encountering that much sketch in a single SEASON deserves props, but these guys seeing it in one race, over and over again throughout a series? Wow, just wow… The staircase from 00:43-00:55, which is approximately 781mm wide with a rail on the right to catch one's 780mm bars, at that speed? That is the stuff of nightmares right there :O
I have this camera and all i can say is they really shouldn't have used the steadyshot function because it reduces the fov to 120 and makes the shot look like crap. Should have shot regular 170 fov
I believe that's Sony's 'steady shot' technology where the camera actually takes a larger view and then has a floating 'window' to steady the shot. Cool effect nonetheless.
