Oct 2, 2010
by Fraser Britton
The Red Bull Rampage goes down tomorrow, and Pinkbikers everywhere will be able to watch and vote online. Judge Scott Hart explains how the on site judges are voting, and what criteria are being used when assessing rider runs.

The categories are:

- Line difficulty
- Fluidity
- Style/technique
- Air/amplitude
- Each rider judged out of 25

The five judges are Chris Lawrence, Scott Hart, Aaron Chase, Randy Spangler and Paul Rak.

Head judge Chris Lawrence: "Judges compare notes to determine a rider's line score after each run. Then judges decide individually on the remaining 3 categories. A crash means an automatic fail in the fluidity category (you can't crash and win), Semenuk won last time with a low line score, but killed it in everything else. Some guys like Atherton are railing fast, but style points are low because they don't have sick tricks. You need to put together an all around visually stunning run. Overall impression is paramount."

I hope that it is judged on the criteria stated and not as a slope style type contest.
In 2008 Gee went huge and super smooth. He would have topped everybody by some way on Line difficulty, Fluidity, Air/amplitude.
Shame they built a take off in the middle of his massive air line that nobody else would touch in 2008.
Tonight is going to be epic.
