Red Bull Bike Night 2008 - The second challenge between Mountainbike and BMX
by Luka Urbac
Jun 26, 2008
On the 27th and 28th of June in Trieste, 24 of the best Mountainbike freeriders and BMX street riders, are gonna join in Piazza Unità d’Italia, where for the second time the two disciplines will challenge each other till the last trick in the bike-park which was built especially for this occasion!
24 riders, 12 MTBers and 12 BMXers will compete Friday night at 09:30 pm in order to create individual result lists of the two disciplines. Following these results the couples of riders (one MTB and one BMXer) will be put together for the finals on Saturday.

The starting order for the following day will be defined during this first event’s phase.
Saturday night the contest will take place starting from 09:30 pm and Piazza Unità d’Italia will watch a show never seen before. Spectacular tricks, music and breathtaking challenges will keep the square’s lights on all night long! The bike-park, settled just in front of the Town Hall, will be composed by walls, spine, quarter, kicker and...unique obstacles especially created for the Red Bull Bike Night!
The news this year is that the left side of the bikepark 2008 is dedicated to the MTB riders. Whereas the right side of the park remains rideable for MTBer and BMXer. A real show is guaranteed on these obstacles!

i doubt the mtbs will beat the bmxs just because bmx has stepped up its game recently. i am a mtber but i think bmx is just that one step better. if you gave a mtb e.g chopper a bmx he would become a better rider just because the bikes are easeir to do tricks on ect. i hope the mtbs win but it will be close

Are the mountain bikers there to make the bmxers look even better?
Its hardly a fair battle, the mountain bikers will get made to look like children.

yea that was exactly what i was thinking when there are bmxers like daniel dhers who is unstoppably its just going to make mountain bikers look bad
Cant you people read, the format is 1 bmx rider and 1 mtb rider form a team. Then they split the run. Its not a mater of bmx against mtb.
too bad that darren pokoj won't compete- it would be nice if they had a mtb rider with so much style
okay this time it's mtb vs bmx in bmx-style riding, let's hope the next competition will be mtb vs bmx on a downhill track
this will be cool, but to be fair the they need to do a contest in the MTB environment ..
MTB's are getting so popular b/c they are so versatile. BMX is definitely cool and the guys riding the little bikes kill it... this will be a good contest nonetheless.

Man I swear the Mtb'ers are going bigger ,and doing alot sicker stuff then the Bmx'ers Proops boys looks like a sick comp..
I love this contest. I hope that they don't actually not allow the bmx riders the one side of the course. Even if it is designed for MB I bet some nutty bmx guys would ride it. Sweet concept though... go mtb
he is an amazing dirt jumper rides for 24seven, well did.
he is immence how can you noit have heard of him?!

ya I think this will be cool because it will really show what your missing and what you need to step up on. Basically it will show use mountain bikers what we as a sport need to start upin the level on. I reasently went up against a pro joey cordova in colorado and he killed me but it just goes to show you on what your missing
NAA doubt pojok will be there.. he busted himself up pretty hard training i belive..internal bleeding an so forth.. not good!!

Adam Hauck destroyed when I saw him ride at Ray's and I'm sure he's gonna kill it at this park aswell.
this is such a great idea for a comp!! after watching last years vid i cant wait to see the footy from this year

is this like a comp between mtbers and bmxers. if not red bull should make a comp bmxers vs flatlanders vs mtb street vs mtb dirtjumperers vs dhers vs freeriders vs trials. i think i covered them all if not u get the point
This is rad contest. Mtn biking is catching up to the already retarded level of bmx. I agree with a few people here in that I think the bmxers will take the comp. Bmx is more specialized; mtn biking is, overall, more versatile. (Stating the obvious here, of course.) For me, the coolest thing to come out of this contest is, I hope, mutual respect. Really, the main thing that differentiates the two creatures is simply this, wheel diameter. Stoke is stoke, whatever you do to get yours is entirely valid. Ripitup!

i recon its going to Lance McDermott representing for the mtbers against Daniel Dhers for the bmxers. go lance!!!!!!
The comp wasnt about bmx against mtb.It was a team event with a bmx rider and mtb'er pairing up according to how they qualified individually on friday night.]Each team in the final had there run points added up to give the winning results
