What??? He was riding a dual crown fork wasn't he? Was he pulling triple whips and superman back flips??? Don't think so. None of his tricks were out of the ordinary for Rampage. If you want to get technical Semenuk is one of the best slopestyle riders in history, so your comment would have to include him as well, because both riders have similar styles.
I disagree. Watching Andreu run, it is clearly superior, with how the judges biased their scoring. Wide open rallying along big terrain was weighted higher than more manicured terrain. I think Zink's run was scored too high because of his long trek on that fire road. I think it should have been Andreu, Semenauk, Rheeder, Strait, Zink.
If Rampage isn't about tricks, they shouldn't list it as the final of the fmb worldtour. An the Drop flip by Rheeder was unreal, never saw this on a DH bike...
Guys, nobody got "robbed". The judges had riders 2-5 so close in points it could have been shuffled in any order really. I would have had it in a different order myself... but robbed is when someone gets underscored in a big way. I know we all like a little drama but come on.
andreu had fluidity, speed, enough tricks to get him to the podium. He took more dangerous line with a lot more speed and that is why he won.In my opinion,Semenuk also rode a harder section, with more risk and nearly the same tricks.
Erdadh, totally agree. Going as fast an Andreu did on his line, was craziness. Definitely deserved the win. Not sure his should have scored so much higher than the others, but definitely the best run. Makes you wonder what Aggy would have gotten.
I think Rheeder was actually perfectly scored. Most of his run was on very well sculpted trail. Watching it on the feed I noticed it was nowhere near as gnarly as Straits, top half of Zink's, Semenuk could have maybe been placed around Rheeder, but this was nowhere near as great a run as Andreu.
I had it
1st Andreu
2nd Strait
3rd Zink or Semenuk
then Rheeder at 5th.
BreakOut13 is absolutely right! Please do not misunderstand, but that's the point!
Straits run was again the reference this year. Perfect! But Andreau for win is ok!
Judges did a great job.Andreu,Zink and Semenuk rode a harder section than a Rhedder.Come on man, look at the Zink line ? Than a 360 from nowhere to nowhere. It cant be compared to some sloopstyle tricks.Andreu's speed was unreal and a 2 big drops. My opinion is,no one got robbed.Maybe norbs haha
Lacondeguy deserved it. Massive hucks and huge amplitude. Although these slopes type guys have amazing runs and get us all pumped with tricks, raw gnar is what won it for Andrue.
Robbed. Lacondaguy won even before this event started.....aslong as he held it together. All through media bullshit. 2 2nd places in a row...he was dedinately due a win this year.
i really dont get why everyone screems he got robbed. his line choice and the way he build a decent 3 foot path along the mountain is the reason for his score. he lost points in line choice (too "easy"), fluidy (horizontal trail) and air. he prolly scored a 22-25 out of 25 on tricks, though. So everyone who is complaining about his score, have a look at the categories for judging.
dont neg prob me, i didnt come up with those judging criterias...
i must admit, though, that i dont get how andreu scored so high in the category tricks either.
This is a first place run buy far.
You know the judges are going to see all this negative feedback here on pinkbike, hopefully they can get the message.
