I'm gonna get negs for this, but I honestly think remy metailler is one of the best bike handlers around right now. his scrubs are perfect, he knows exactly what the bike is going to do. cant wait to see what he does in 2016.
it was more before he did well at rampage, people used to say he was a one trick pony just rides bike park all the time, and apparently he didnt do that well at one of the wc rounds
No need for neg proppoing, couldnt agree with you more. On 90% of those hucks it looked as smooth as landing on a pillow, his speed on tight sections is also bloody insane
You get negged on pink bike if you pay a rider tribute without giving Brandon semenuk more props first. For example that should really have said after Brandon semenuk I think Remy metaller is the best bike handler around.
I think the buzz should be about this guy and not only about gwin. Gwin is the overrated guy in our sport, he indeed has skill and he had some crazy moments like the chainless run but remi is no less talented and imo has sicker vids blasting between trees and hucking everything.
he's super cool and nice to. I lived in whistler the past two summers and see him getting around the bike park and village, I talked tohim now and again and he's got the time and not on a high horse.
What strikes me most about these top level riders isn't how big they huck or how stylish there whip is, rather how they navigate their lines so precisely at that speed. It's difficult to fathom.
Yea its pretty stunning, on that tech section on Aline in whistler it just freakin blows my mind how fast he shoots through there. Meanwhile im trying to just get down alive without crashing hard in that section while feeling like a retarded monkey.
They are made of darkmatter that grips and slides on the riders telepathic command, simple really and should be coming out next season, however apparently it'll only be available in 27.5 Plus.
Its weird to say, but I don't think there will ever be another rider like Remy. Everyone seems to be good at something eg. GWIN- Hauling ass HILL - Steep stuff Brosnan - Technical ect. ect. Remy literally has it all, I know he hasn't won a world cup or what ever you want to hit me with to say he's not as good as the others. There is little this guy hasn't done on a bike and I'm honestly in awe of Remy and his skills. Oh and I did I mention he films everything for us to watch
I think more than anything his style is just "fun" if that makes sense. Not usually competing and just throwing the bike around makes it more relate-able (though a way, way higher level)
Props to all remy's sponsors too. Whilst he doesn't necessarily do the events for the results, I'm glad they support him to just be a kick-ass ambassador. If any pro makes me want to buy a product, it's him.
He's in the same class as Cedric Gracia, who was (is) a freerider, pro downhiller, can race on EWS or an XC Pro event and huck almost anything. Those guys excel in pretty much everything they touch but don't want to spend their time training only for one style of event.
most of the top dhers never release videos (to my disappointment). I bet if they did we would appreciate their abilities more. Look at gee Atherton - rampage podium, world up winner, world champ. Handles the bike like a boss. If he did vids it would be epic. Same as all the top 20-40 guys,
Gee has to be the king of freeride/racing? Podium at Rampage, multiple WC victories, overall leaders, world champs, Hardline. Guinea pigging the serious freeride lines that Dan builds.
In my experiences pov cameras tend to make things look slower and less steep. With that being said holly shit he must be hauling ass way faster than I could ever be comfortable with and that one gap where clears the guy standing on top of the table top...almost unfathomable.
I`d like to know how much of the video is actually sped up, it seems almost impossible to believe he was going that fast. On the other hand, he is REMY...incredible
I wondered the same thing. I am not Remy but i know i have filmed stuff going 30mph and up, and you go back and look at the film and your like it looks slow. I think there is a lot of speeding up in films to get that look. When you start going around 40mph, then it looks fast.
Better riders look further down the trail; the gopro footage looks slower because the focus point of the camera is so far away. When the focus point on the trail is closer to the rider it looks like the rider is going faster.
Good stuff! You know the footage is good when you feel the whoop! in your gut.
Remy does make the point, in narrow tree/bushed lined trails it makes it look crazy fast. Open trails very hard to show speed. And if he says nothing is sped up here, i believe him. He is an animal.
I've ridden with Remy, and spend a fair bit of time in the bike park too. None of that is sped up.
Remy your speed and smoothness through that section of Schleyer is crazy!
Someone needs to tell the guy that those disks attached to his wheels aren't just for looks and can actually slow you down... I don't think he understands why there are all these levers on his bars...
I've heard that after a typical run, his rims have been known to glow orange due to the rapid flexure, while his brake rotors remain cool to the touch.
@remymetailler MASTER PLEASE TAKE ME AS YOUR PADAWAN! Mad props to you, you're the one of the few riders who keeps feeding crazy footage and never disappoints. Hope to see you do your thing on more WC races. Win or not you get us pumped!
I was expecting some gangsta rap, and was disappointed at first.... This guy throws down aggressive lines so hard though, I found myself rockin out anyways.
remy is a freak.
No, sorry, he was a hand model.
Good stuff! You know the footage is good when you feel the whoop! in your gut.
And if he says nothing is sped up here, i believe him. He is an animal.
Hard to tell if I am watching a time lapse of down hill biking, or does this really exist?
Vivement 2016....
