Interbike 2008 - RockShox Reba w/ MAXLE Lite
by Tyler Maine

For 2009, RockShox has taken their already great Reba and redesigned it from the ground up and added a 20mm MAXLE Lite option too. 26" and 29" options, are also rolling out.

The Reba has become a favorite among racers and trail riders for its light weight and high performance attributes. None of that has changed for 2009, but lots of other bits have. An entirely new chassis, with power bulges for stiffness, post mounts for the brake and a whole new lighter weight package.
All Reba models are available in both 26" and 29" versions. Both of those are available in standard Q/R or the new MAXLE Lite 20x110 thru axle standard. With travel options from 80mm to 120mm, all the XC and trail riders should be well covered.
All Reba models receive a brand new damper. Reba SL and Reba Race get a fresh new Motion Control, while the Reba Team is upgraded to a BlackBox Motion Control damper. The new BlackBox Motion Control damper is built upon the foundation of the original Motion Control. It features a titanium spring tube as well as Dual Flow compression and rebound. External adjustments are detented.
All Reba forks will feature a significantly revamped Dual Air system too. Improvements are focused on further reducing friction, while providing a more linear spring rate. Dual Air gives riders the ability to independently adjust the positive and negative air spring chambers. The result is a very light and highly tunable spring system.
For the 2009 model year RockShox has refined its MAXLE and optimized it for weight, while still providing the same great stiffness for which 20x110mm standard has been known. MAXLE Lite is over 50 grams (or 40%) lighter than the RockShox MAXLE, yet maintains equivalent durability and functionality. Even better, it uses the industry standard 20x110mm dimension, meaning it's compatible with products on the market.
All Reba models will still be available in trail friendly standard Q/R too. XC riders that want the added travel will be happy to throw one of these under their bike and hit the trails.

that 29er fork looks really sick!
can Maxle-Lite be re-fitted to any fork currently using Maxle 360?
would be a nice weight saving upgrade for a Lyric or Pike

50 grams? That would bring my Lyric coil from 2655 grams (or whatever it is) to 2605 grams. It's simpler and more cost effective to thoroughly blow my nose prior to riding.

do you mean the 2010 boxxers? the 09's are almost the same as 08. the 2010's have the 'BOX' on the stantion and 'XER' on the lowers.
I was under the impression that the Maxel-Lite wasn't compatible with the 360 etc because rock shox didn't want people fitting a XC orientated component to big hitting forks like the totem
Too bad Canadian distributors are not carrying the full spread of the new Reba, they don't have all models in all configuration. For example, if you want the 20mm version, then you have to get the Team, and there is no Team with U-Turn, only Dual-Air. I think its a shame they don't have the guts to carry more selection in forks.
I agree on that, but having the option of pushlock or manual lockout is nice, not everyone wants a silly bar mounted device.
got a pair of reba teams the other week for my bike pic - http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2490860/ sweet fork, well light and had no prblem yet with strength. good forks imo.

I just got my 120mm 29er with a Maxle and it is sweet. Kills my Minute 29er for lack of bob, smoothness of stroke and responsiveness to bumps. The Maxle lite is the best through axle system yet. If you own a 29er this is the fork for you.
Does anyone know the price of these forks? im trying to find out but clearly looking in all the wrong places!!! cheers
aha, now with the maxle and u turn, ppl r gonna start using em for street just like they did witht the pike
