The all new aluminum Santa Cruz Blur TR delivers all the same aggressive ride features of the beloved carbon TRc, in a more economical package.

With 125mm of VPP suspension, relaxed angles, massive frame stiffness throughout and a 5 year warranty... the TR is just begging to be thrashed harder than an FIA president.

Let Syndicate rider Josh RatBoy Bryceland show you what we mean in his new video.

There is no better way to advertise a bike than that.
  • + 28
He needs to just get it over with and manual the whole trail!
  • + 25
@Smelly888 - that is EXACTLY what I was thinking the whole time. Can you imagine (US riders) if they ran this ad during the Super Bowl next month? Of course, the bike industry can't afford that kind of airtime but man, can you imagine how many joe bobs would be in bike shops the next week? I bet there'd be a fresh new crop of riders on our trails. (I'm of the opinion that more riders is always better than less riders.)
  • + 5
sngltrkmnd Yeah,I can't wait until the trails are so over crowded that they resemble European ski lift lines.
  • + 2
it's always the rider not the bike but I have to admit paying a little visit to the Santa Cruz website to check this bike out. Job done Rat Boy. Job very well done.
  • + 1
@sngltrkmnd: I am open to different opinions, but one of the reasons I love MTB is because we have such a small and tight community. If we open it up to the whole world so that MTB is like football, then we would lose that sense of community. Plus its fun to say things like "Mid-stroke rebound" and "Kashima-coated CTD Boost Valve" and no one has any idea what the f*ck you are talking about, whereas if you say "Dime 3-2-6 Cover 2," chances are your random "Joe Bob" knows what you're talking about (a highly complex defensive play).

I love the fact that Santa Cruz uses their DH riders to advertise their trail bikes, shows how awesome trail bikes really are...
  • + 3
Real question is how would a bike like this hold up after a few months of being ridden like this...my guess is - not too well. Being a Santa Cruz I'm sure the frame would be just fine, but the XC/Trail components would be pretty beat up.
  • + 6
I rode my trail bike as a dh bike for an extended period of time and now i have a blown fork, bent derailleur, squeaky pivots, and wheels that i have to true all the time. So if you plan on riding your trail bike like this beware that you will have to lose some of the more xc parts and you will be visiting your wallet a lot.

Strange thing is the blur TR weighs more then the blur LT... Seems strange to me.
  • + 1
my trail bike frame is allgood but hte eastern haven hubs are shit they are always comming loose even after it has been fixxed, and i dont even ride to hard
  • + 1
it depends how much the rider weights, I've punished 2 trail bikes for the last 6 years, i still own both of them, they're still good. I weigh 64 kilos
  • + 1
jesusrendon. I weigh about the same as you (give or take a few pounds) but i also hucked my trail bike and rallied it pretty hard on some more dh style tracks, all when i had a dh bike also haha

Those seem to be getting more popular. The short travel out the back and longer travel up front. I saw a video where this bike was used as a slopestyle bike as well. That's pretty impressive.

wow he just makes it look so easy.... I love how he is 'woop'ing and 'yeah'ing the whole way down, seems like he is genuinely having fun.

Can't think of a better add. Also this video is perfect to illustrate what's been commented lately about the actual need or lack of for massive 200mm downhill rigs. Sure, Ratboy's skillis way above most (if not all) of us here, but if he can shred a 125mm bike so hard in what I don't think it's a so much mellower track (what's lacking in rock gardens it's made up on the jumps, again I don't think most of us jump much more than that, at least on those situations) than the ones most of us usually ride, I think most of us could do with a 5-6 inch enduro/am/fr/call-it-however-you-want/mountain-bike.

Now I'm off to a corner to sit alone and reflect on how shameful my riding is compared to Ratboy, see you after the depression is gone.
  • + 2
Although this is a 125mm travel bike. When i saw the video, I did think there was alot more stanction on those forks than standard.
If you freeze frame at 00:48, im pretty sure theres a 34 printed on those forks.
That looks like a dam fun bike.
  • + 2
Well, I'm guessing 125mm is the rear travel, and up front you can go anywhere from 120 to 160 depending on how you like your bike and angles. And yep, I agree it looks pretty fun.

Rode one of these last fall. It is probably the most fun bike I have ever ridden. Perfect combination of Speed and Fun. They nailed the travel and geometry. This bike makes it really hard to give up on 26" wheels. My only concern is how low the BB is. If the trails you ride are littered with rocks. You are going to smack the pedals quite often unless your careful.
Then there is the fact that this frame is converted to 650b more than any other. The converts claim they all like it even better with the bigger wheels. The bigger wheels raise the BB about half an inch and improve its high speed stability. Knowing all this I'd like to see SC produce one of these designed for 650b, and break the trend that 650b is just for AM bikes. I know that comment will piss off the SC crew and many of you here but, if we are going to be stuck with 650b for better or worse. We need companies like SC in the mix. I also think SC is one of the only companies that can do it right the first time.
  • + 1
Sounds good to me - I'd love a 650b bike set up like this. Geometry is more important to me than travel. I'd happily ride a shorter travel bike if it handled as good as everyone reports, AND had the bigger hoops.

Ohh shit that was good!I bet I if I buy one of those I will be able to ride just like that! *sarcasm*

That is how to advertise a new bike! Awesome..

If I owned a shop I'd be looping this video and others like it on the sales floor. Build a youtube or vimeo channel - super easy, and FREE.

What you didn't see in this video is how many times they had to film each shot just right. It's nice to have your own film crew. Let's be honest 95% of the riders out there will not be free riding on the trails with a 4 inch cross country bike on a wheelset that cost as much as the bike like this dude. Good edited video nevertheless been seeing more Blur TRs on the trail lately riders probably saw this video but they ain't riding like this dude.

That looks like one of my local trails... except with berms... and jumps... and there aren't any stupid rock sections. On second thought, it looks nothing like my local trail.

Great video and bike. Just too bad that Santa Cruz chose a BIG poach trail for a shoot. The owners wanted to boot mountain bikers out a few years ago. This won't help...
