Sauze D'oulx

I just thought I would highlight a fantastic place to ride that not many people will have heard of it but it really is a gem.

Sauze d' oulx is located in the Piemonte region of the Italian Alpes. Sauze D'oulx itself is quite a small resort, but those of you that follow snow sports will know that part of the winter Olympics was held there. Lift access is good and fairly cheap.

Riding in the area is under development however there are a lot of existing trails ranging from blue to black. Plans have been laid down to connect the whole of the Vialattea: "The milky way" lift network system. The trails consist of fast flowing trails as well as some epic down hills.

If you are planning to go with family then there is a kid's school for younger children and guides etc. For adults e.g other halfs etc., the walking is very good and you can actually drive to the top of the hill and visit some of the cafes if that's more their scene!

The accommodation in and around Sauze is very good. There is a certain hotel which i would like to highlight. It is called The Orso Bianco. This is part of the sportinia complex. The sportinia complex is very much the centre of the happenings in Sauze. It sits at 2135m, this is very high above Sauze itself so you will be able to wake up get on your bike and ride. There is a link for the Orso Bianco below. The staff at the Orso Bianco will be welcome to take bookings etc. The service is great and very personal.

To show you what the riding is actually like I shall put a video below for the trails. THIS IS NOT MY OWN VIDEO I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR FILMING OR EDITING. The video is take from www.sauzefreeride.net where you can also find route maps and stuff.

wow - very nice place indeed. It is really helpful to post a video to the review - helps you imagine the stuff. Smile
Seems these trails are not as steep as a classic DH trail, perhaps its more enjoyable to ride ???
Too bed it is on the other side of Italy, e.g.: Austria is only half the distance for me ... :/
