Pocahontas Trails has brought cross country bike racing back to Slatyfork, WV in an expanded three day event, August 22-24 2014. The new format for this summer features a Short Track race on Friday, a WVMBA Ultra Series Race on Saturday and finishes out the weekend with an Enduro on Sunday. The Enduro is the WVMBA Series Championship Race, capping off a new WVMBA series – look for the top riders to compete in a tough race. The combination of the there races gives the participants a chance to truly be “King & Queen of the Hill” for the man or woman that can best all three events. This race series truly showcases what Slatyfork XC riding is all about – scenic single track, challenging rock gardens, 100 year old rail grades with the original ties still in place, spruce forest and spectacular views.
The WVMBA Enduro course will consist of apx. 25 miles on some of the best natural backcountry terrain West Virginia has to offer. Don't show up expecting smooth flow trails, with epic trails like Tea Creek Mountain and Bear Pen, 100% of the timed downhill sections are rock and root filled.
At 37 miles the Ultra is a bit over the initial 50k goal, but with the final 8 miles on the epic Props Run who could resist adding a few miles.
