The 4th round of the
West Virginia Enduro series hosted by
Snowshoe Bike Park took place June 27 - 28, 2015. After 38 miles of riding and 8 stages of racing, Kevin Deal of Athens Bicycle and Susan Haywood of Stan's Notubes Elite Women's Team, came out victorious in the Pro fields.
The Snowshoe Bike Park is nationally recognized as one of the best in the U.S. and offers one of the largest trail systems in the East. With nearly 40 trails and 1,500 vertical feet of descent, the park has something to offer everyone. Most however have not explored the XC trail system surrounding the bike park. Pre dating the bike park by a number of years, it used to play host to the legendary 24 hours of Snowshoe and numerous NORBA XC races. Due to recent trail work over the last few years, it has seen a resurrection of many of the old XC trails which were showcased during the Epic Enduro.
The Snowshoe Epic Enduro lived up to its name. With 3 inches of rain falling on the eve of the race, course conditions were challenging to say the least. The forecast for day 2 looked promising with partly sunny sky's, but that never materialized. Leaving riders to battle it out with mother nature, it tested man and machine to make it to the finish.
