With blistering hot temperatures over the Canadian National MTB Championships race weekend and riders pinning it faster than ever, Sun Peaks was host to some of the world’s fastest riders including defending champion Steve Smith who once again took the fastest time of the day. With over 270 riders slaying the course all weekend, the resulting aftermath was a bit “rough”, to say the least. However after a couple days of hard work and a welcome overnight rain shower, silt piles, displaced rocks, and berms holes have been tamed and the course is once again riding nice. Nearly a month into the Bike Park season, it’s high time to show you the goods out there!

On top of maintaining our usual roster, we’ve officially finished our brand new alpine cross country trail, ‘Altitude.’ The result is a very rewarding ride filled with technical climbs and descents, winding through high alpine and sub alpine forest, bringing you to Tod Lake.

Despite torrential rainstorms over the past 24 hours, flash flooding down in Kamloops, and sub-zero temperatures accompanied by a bit of snow at the Top of the World… we put on our rain jackets and got out for some product testing, the day before this epic new trail opens to the public.

The weather was trying out there, but stoke levels remained high as we hooted and hollered our way through the alpine. You'll definitely want to add this advanced intermediate trail to your summer bucket list, however probably on a more typical Sun Peaks day like we encountered on our reconnaissance mission last October:

As if that wasn't enough... we’ve been busy brush sawing/grooming multiple trails which have quickly overgrown with all the moisture we’ve seen this summer. And don’t worry, we’ve still been putting in our time on ‘Sweet One’; repairing water damage, rerouting trail, and devising new features to bring this trail back to life. Our vision for this trail is a hand built flow trail, top to bottom (via ‘Sugar’ and ‘Sweet One’). Have fun out there and be sure to check back in a couple weeks for a sneak peek into the new and improved ‘Sweet One’!
