2016 Superenduro Canazei, Round Three - Race Day

Jun 26, 2016
by Ben Winder

Shine, Rain, Shine, Rain… That was the story of today’s weather in Canazei, a tough day in the office for the racers. Thunder and lightning to sunshine within a matter of minutes. It was race day and spirits were high throughout the day.

Alex Lupato and Tracy Moseley take the top spots. Alex was consistently on form, the first stage was a struggle for the fastest seeded riders as the heavens opened on them. The bad weather forced stage three to be cancelled here too. As this is an EWS qualifier we saw a pretty high talent pool searching for those sought after places.

The ridgeline was forbidden today so to get to the top of stage 1 was a bit of a ride and then a steep slog up the side of the mountain.

The final stage could only be taped out today due to it running through town which meant an early start for the local trail crew.

Jk... Those are protecting from avalanches in winter time. ^^

Avalanche protectors. They stop the snow from breaking away in one mass and causing a slab avalanche. At the same time if it's below the tree line they can be used to protect saplings and replant forest.
