Photo Epic: Swatch Prime Line Finals

We were greeted this morning by overcast skies, drizzle, and a gloomy forecast. As the day wore on and the FMB Finals were fast approaching, the BMX street event finished out and we exited the area to sunny skies - thankfully.

The crowds gathered in close, media scurried into place, and we were under-way with the Prime Line Finals. The only issue was the wind, which played a role in a few rider's runs, with Amir taking the slam of the day and not being able to finish competing.

Thankfully, after the first runs were completed, it abated a little and the delays were shorter and the riders got cleaner second runs. The riders weren't holding back as per usual, and the name of the game for 2015 is combos - if you're not throwing two tricks in one air, you best be doing something big. Stand out tricks were Rogatkin's triple-whip, Rheeder's back-flip drop-in (Pilgrim did it too), and Logan Peat's stoke meter after cleaning a solid run.

The top three were predictable, but well-earned, with Rheeder topping the box, followed by buttery-smooth Genon, and spin machine Rogatkin. Take a look at the visual aids to get a better feel for the finals action!

Amir looked great all weekend, and was riding with a noticeable fire. Unfortunately, he was the first, and biggest victim of the wind, Amir was out just after dropping on this first run.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
Not an ideal weekend from Watts, with a first-run crash being a tough way to start the day.

www.staronphoto.com
Greg will certainly want redemption after this weekend, and we know he is wholly capable of top-tier finishes.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
A crash in his second run perhaps took the wind from his sails, and he called it after that.

www.staronphoto.com
Anton was riding well all weekend, and the crowd was enjoying his riding.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
Logan is always pumped, and it shows in his riding.

www.staronphoto.com
His second run was dialled, and he opted to stick with the score, forgoing a third and final run - always good to see riders riding smart.

www.staronphoto.com
Riding hard and fast, Szymon was throwing down this weekend.

With style for miles, Genovese will just need to add some bigger moves to the trick list in order to climb the results sheet.

www.staronphoto.com
Sam was the only other rider to flip the drop-in and we know the Brit has the ability to win big.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
He has the big moves, and we saw them, but not completing all his runs hurt his chances at scoring higher.

www.staronphoto.com
Tomas sat in the Hot Seat for a long time today, and ultimately just missed the podium.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
Zejda is knocking on the podium door, and it showing us he is capable of being on the box.

www.staronphoto.com
  Happy Birthday to you, Tomas!

Swatch Prime Line Finals
The American has come a long way from The Kid In A Squid Lid!

www.staronphoto.com
Triple-whips, Cork 7's, and Bar-Fronts, Nicholi is gunning for a win, and will likely see in the near future.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
  Yep... This happened...

With unmistakable style, Genon makes his runs look effortless.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
Consistent first and second runs means that is Thomas can add in a big banger trick, he might be on top sooner than later.

Swatch Prime Line Finals
Right from the get-go, Brett was looking like the man to beat.

www.staronphoto.com
With text-book precision, and large array of moves, it was plain to see that Brett was destined for #1 here at Prime Line.

lol why? just curious, thats a very grandpa/grandma-y thing to say. I'm all for wearing it for costume but I'm not for holding them to some standard where they should be wearing what they did "back in my day"
  • 15 1
Because it's a tradition held high in Bavaria. And also really hot ;-)
Quite a few wear it for special occasions like weddings or other festivities. Nothing grandma-ish about it.

I can't remember which of the guys it was but one of them went for a double bar spin and got 2.5 rotations. He landed and wasn't even phased and hit the next jump with his cockpit backwards! Also Watts has insanely narrow bars for shit this big.

Tommy G landed with his bars backwards.
