I used to use strava every single ride, trying to get better times and kom's. Now that I've uninstalled that roadie shit I enjoy riding my bike 10x more
While I still own a few KOMs, set two seasons ago, I've altered my goals in the seasons since. Progression of skills replaced the quest for outright speed. Truly I say unto thee: Pain and suffering is all that awaits those who chase KOMs, and a few pixels in the shape of a trophy on a little screen. I wouldn't trade a single skill for a pile of KOMs. The satisfaction of conquering a hard earned skill dwarfs that of winning an e-battle royale vs your roadie friends. Save yourselves from this self imposed sentence. Ride for fun and progression and put down the stopwatch.
You lads banging on about Strava notice that at the end he threw his phone into the undergrowth? So if you thought this advert was all about telling you that this bike will improve your Strava times have missed the point just a little bit........
A clever advert.. - the Segment is designed to make you faster, - Orange (represented as the delivery man) are trying to do you a favour, if only you accept! - having fun is the most important thing.
So that's pretty much everyone covered. 29 is efficient, but for me definitely not the most fun. However the biggest question of Orange, when is carbon coming to the brand? Is it ever coming?
Once they become more global, YT and Canyon are going to shake up the industry by producing a good bike for a reasonable price. It's ridiculous that there are so many brands yet no real competition (separated only by their marketing). Canyon, YT and other now well known direct brands need to get their products to Australia! I'm certain they'll sell well considering how our distributors rob us blind. Nearly 9k here for the X01 spec Nomad, because they can... Still close to an extra 1.5k more even considering duty, tax and shipping to the LBS.
There will still always be others who want something different and will pay for it, but when they realise how good the YT and new Canyons are, that has a good chance of changing.
@marvintheandroid Orange did make a carbon road bike a couple of years back which was seen as a sign they were going to consider using carbon for mtbs.
The comparison with YT isn't completely fair. People like the simplicity of the 5 and the Alpine, they're easy to maintain, hold their resale value well and are partially made in the UK. There have always been better performing bikes for the cash, but value for money isn't all about the initial purchase price and spec
Not at all They showed that it took three practice laps to find the fastest line. #2 He needed additional fitness training to get faster over time. #3 He up'd his game by adding additional blue to his ENDURO kit. #4 He has a cheap cell provider with a toss away phone. #5 the song was an OK choice, but he never "pushed too far". Everyone knows if you're not crashing then your not trying hard enough. #6 Next time pay the $8 and get UPS delivery or fedex so it doesn't take so dang long. The other bikes are just fine.
