After three rounds of missing out on the podium, the Canyon Factory Enduro Team finally fought back to third place and celebrated a hard won spot on the stage at round 4 in La Thuile, Italy. Through a dramatic weekend of racing that saw the return of downhill legend and former team member, Fabien Barel, last year’s championship team began their struggle to get back to 1st place.
Joe Barnes led the team with an impressive 10th place overall finish. The Scottish rider has struggled to find his form but has consistently improved placing 32nd, 26th and 15th in the first three races. After his strong ride this weekend he now stands at 14th in the overall rankings. With Justin Leov still out with mono, Fabien Barel decided to take a break from racing retirement and lend the team some extra firepower. Placing 17th overall it’s clear that retired or not Barel is still a force to be reckoned with.
Ines Thoma had a slightly off weekend, falling behind in the early stages, but fighting back to get 8th place and maintain her ranking as 3rd overall. After the first day, Ludo May suffered a small injury in his foot and ended having to drop out of the race.
Get better soon Ludo and Justin and we’ll see you in Aspen!
