I loved this shoot, the whole mission was a daily push, but the rewards were always worthwhile, I always love checking out new areas and seeing what the potential is, and all though this spot was a bit more rugged then many I've been to, I'm stoked on how things turned out! Garett Buehler |
First time I ever saw The Townsite was in a photo a friend had taken after riding her moto up there; I knew right away that it would make a great zone for a edit, all we needed next was a rider. Taylor Loughran, Art Barn director/cinematographer |
Knowing Garett since he was 15 or so, I have always had tremendous respect for him as a rider and have watched him tackle huge move and lines with ease. When Matt and I set out to scout and build him some features in this zone we didn't hold back. Both Matt and myself are fairly confident on the bikes, so our building principle was simple. If we thought there was even the smallest possibility that we could hit the feature, we made it bigger... this quickly got out of hand. Kevin Landry, Art Barn producer |
Access was like playing Russian Roulette - between the gates, huge mining trucks and pinned Polaris RZR missions you never knew what you would get. Perfect for such a rowdy zone. Matt Harris |
You could say that Matt and I took some 'liberties' with the lines we scouted for Garett. We searched for the gnarliest lines we could find. It was easy for us, raking and moving a few rocks was way safer then riding. Garett just showed up from Nelson and sent everything. Landry |
Kevin Landry is probably the best location scout and stunt builder in the corridor. Garett Buehler is straight up balls out nuts. Put the two together and this is what you get. Margus Riga |
This zone blew my mind and I couldn't believe it was here, tucked away relatively close to home. Looks like a combo of Moab + Virgin, Utah. Can't get a bad shot there really. Pat Henry, drone operator |
I remember feeling pretty small the first time I arrived to scout the zone. It definitely had eerie vibes, the mountains seemed to be alive. The terrain however had crazy potential. I felt like I was always looking over my shoulder whilst building, the nature of the zone and the access combined with natural activity in the basin made for exciting times. Matt Harris |

Is it just my resolution of the screen/display, or are the pictures quite pixelated?!
Some of them look like an old SuperMario game to me.
Even the logo of Margus is anything but sharp.
What a pity regarding these high quality photographs.
But then again, it´s Buehler The Beast, and I guess he can stomp a landing everywhere! :-D
