He's returning from injury, he's getting old, he's struggling a bit with his bike (he just had a custom one made for him with a "new" geometry), and it's timed training which he never, ever showed his cards at.
@vroomvroompartystarter: I said he's getting old, there's a difference. Plus he's 30 (31 in a month) with multiple season ending injuries that keep coming back to haunt him. That's hardly a recipe for success in World Cup downhill.
Never understood the Sam Hill enthusiasm. Guy is a has been. Nothing personal but look at his results in the last few years. Not everyone can race at an elite level for their entire career.
@Powderface: Two wins on two of the toughest tracks around and 4th place in the overall standings in 2014 isn't what i'd class as a has been. And he was pretty much injured all of last season. I reckon there is still more to come.
@Powderface: in the last few years? He has two WC dh wins with a handful of top 10's finishes and plenty of national wins. He still has speed. I agree he was consistently faster several years ago but he's had several big injuries to recover from that have sidelined training and fitness. I believe if he gets in the mindset and his fitness is where he needs it, it wouldn't be suprising if he gets on the podium again.
@ramymcc22 Hill finished 21st in Fort Bill. Hopefully he'll be getting back to form this year. Minnaar also didn't start well, but smashed everyone last week. Hill won 2 races in 2014, so don't count him off.
Love me some A.I.
