Toronto Off Road Bicycling Association is a new grassroots community organization dedicated to preserving, maintaining, and creating off-road cycling opportunities in Toronto. Toronto has almost hundreds of kilometers of world-class off-road trails that are used every day by cyclists, hikers, runners, dog walkers, and nature lovers.
There are sections of the Don Valley trails that are historically significant, culturally unique, used and loved by many different "users", from all sorts of races, backgrounds, ages, and abilities. The health benefits of these trails is enormous, and virtually cost-free.
Every weekend, hundreds of off-road cyclists, from cross-country enthusiasts; to dirt jumpers and downhillers; to families in seek of new adventure; take to Toronto's volunteer-built, community-maintained trails, and discover hidden treasures in their own backyards. It's a golden example of how healthy lifestyle, green exercise, stewardship, community, and mutual respect are a part of Toronto's fabric.
Toronto Off Road Bicycling Association is working with contributors, stakeholders, and authorities to responsibly build and operate a sustainable, environmentally focused, and effective organization which will achieve solutions through communication, collaboration, and consensus.

Toronto Off Road Bicycling Association is ramping up activities this month with a variety of great events.
Our next monthly meeting is Tuesday May 13th, 2008, 7 pm, at York Reception Centre, 1100 Millwood Road, near Millwood and Overlea. TORBA has been hosting these events for six months now, and they are always informative, interesting, and a good place to learn about the work of Toronto's newest grassroots community group.
The TORBA Umbra Launch Party happens Thursday May 22nd, 6 pm, at Umbra's Concept Store located at 165 John Street, just north of Queen St. West, in downtown Toronto. Join for a fun evening of cocktails, trials demos in the store, live music, and meet the staff and community of Umbra, our founding sponsor.
Trail Head's Thursday Night Ride happens every Thursday, (with the exception of our Launch Party night!) departing from the Loblaw's trailhead at 11 Redway Road, near Millwood and Laird.
Meet at 7 pm, route and difficulty levels will be decided before the ride, based on turnout,
and riders from all ages and abilities are welcome. Night riding and lights are optional...it's a fun time, lights or not! The Thursday Night Ride usually wraps up with drinks and a barbeque after the ride.
TORBA will be a part of the City Of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation's Loblaw's Trailhead opening on Saturday, May 24th, 2008, from 10 am till 2 pm, at 11 Redway Road. Check out www.toronto.ca/trails for more info.
Finally, TORBA is connecting with University of Toronto's Mountain Bike Team and Task Force To Bring Back the Don for the 9th annual Clean Up Day, Saturday May 31st, 2008, 10 am, taking place at ET Seaton Park, near 71 Thorncliffe Park Drive. Live music, hundreds of volunteers, free barbeque and drinks, and tree planting will happen. The event goes rain or shine, so be there no matter what the weather brings!
Make plans to be a part of these events, and show your support for off road cycling in Toronto; being there means everything.

Keep up the good work guys, if I'm in town I'll be at the meeting for sure. Otherwise see you on the trails.
dont be fooled this organization is bad news for the don! they come in there and police whats right and wrong to build! they tear down amazing stunts and features and say its what the city of toronto would have wanted. Were starting a petition to ban this negative group fron the don valley! BAN TORBA FROM THE DON www.bantorba.ca
yeah torba is a bunch of clowns that f*cked up everything in the don.... they tryed to get the city to support dirt jumping and trail riding. and the city had no idea of any of the trails and now they are planing to tear everything down... they dont let you build what you want you have to ask torba first or they will put chains up and seriously hurt people. its not there trails there everyones trails and there sure as hell dont speak for me.
f*ck you TORBA, stay the f*ck away from our trails. TORBA is a waste of time, money, and oxygen. They also eat babies. Hit up www.bantorba.ca right now or you're gay.
everone who agrees please sign the petition! these guys are up to no good and im surprised pinkbike would advertise such a dangerous group. On there rides these guys march through the don... put up chains on features they dont like and wont hit they show no trail etiquette then they meet up for a bbq and get piss drunk and go on the internet and laugh about tearing everything down. www.ipetition.com/petition/bantorba
my mistake the real link www.ipetitions.com/petition/bantorba
Holy-moly your stupid for posting misleading facts. Lets see, the City of Toronto has declared the area in question of ecoclogical interest and are watching it under a microscope. Plus every frog lady, hiker and eco-nut would love to see mountain bikers get banned from there (and they have been the ones putting up chains). Plus there are a hundred different places to build in the don other than the area in question. Oh and lets see torba wants to protect your right to ride in there plus build more trails, and work with the city to build jump parks... Your reaction f*ck torba, f*ck the city, I'm a superstar and will build what I want... Sheesh how immature, about time you grow up.
The idea of TORBA, a group that works with the CoT to get the most benefits for the don is a good idea, but it seems TORBA is not doing this is the best fashion possible. They do think they run the don and won;t let any other riders have their say.
