As the race in Livigno was cancelled we decided to stay in Morzine for week or so to ride a couple of trails... it rained every day but it was good practice. Before that we were over in America riding at Big Bear and we had The Link, which is Giant's big dealer event. So I've basically been training and riding in America before we came here and I'm now ready for the second half of the season. I had a couple of podiums here in the past and I like the track now because they took out the long straight at the start which was always a bit boring and easy. Now as there are more turns in I am looking forward to ride it. Mt. St. Anne is wide open and fast with a couple of jumps and I always have a good time here - Danny Hart - Giant Factory Off-Road Team |
I came here every year since 2003 and I get a bit over riding the exact same track again and again to be honest so the changes are gonna give the riders something to think about. The track here is always really good and a true test. I did struggle here in the early days with the length of the track but it's kick-started a lot of my seasons before with some been in the Top 10's in the last three or four years. We've been hanging out with Danny a lot lately as we had been to Morzine for some good riding and skill training and then to the Link where we had the idea that once we are on this continent lets stay in America and check out California. Danny had never been to Big Bear so we went there, checked out the beaches and just living the dream - Andrew Neethling - Giant Factory Off-road Team |
After the race in Leogang I got to London in time with the helicopter to go to Samuel L Jackson's Charity Ball. He's actually a really nice guy and they followed most of the race before because they knew where I was coming from before going to London so that was really cool. I then went back to San Francisco and to Italy afterwards where the Wideopen was cancelled. After that I went back to South Africa for a cross-over event where they had mountain-biking, surfing and golf and I ended up third. I won the biking and got second in surfing behind Jordy Smith but my golf was awful... All in all it was a pretty cool event. There are some really good changes on the track and also some really different ones. You look forward to this awesome, tough, rutted-out, gnarly left hand berm... and it's gone, but it's such a big mountain with so much variation it's always good to ride. It's really hard to screw it up with the track. My first year was 1998 as a junior in the World Champs and have been here every year since. It is one of my favorite venues because the XC track is really nice to play around and there's a little wall-ride to hit outside the press room, good swimming pools, the creek to jump off the cliffs and nice close condos - Greg Minnaar - Santa Cruz Syndicate |

There's no CRC team on the UCI entry list yet either.
It's such a shame that all these athletes don't get the mainstream recognition they deserve.
My prediction:
1st: smith
2nd: Ratboy
3rd: Gwin
4th: Brosnan
5th: Bruni
Wild Card: Fearon
Well said. 6 weeks is terrible! It's left me scared that I was missing things.
then at the end
"The stage is set, but as the sun sets today that could be the last we see of it... If that's the case, expect things to get damp, misty and torn up in double quick time."
So which is it?
