Trail Notes is a collection of stories capturing the lifestyles of passionate mountainbikers from the Southern Hemisphere Mecca of Rotorua New Zealand and the infamous trails of the Whakarewarewa forest. The film follows four unique individuals and showcases their stories of how mountainbiking captivated their lives and what has drawn them to the sport and intoxicating location of the forest. Each of these interconnected stories creates a tapestry of the local scene that mimics the winding trails of the forest. These stories of personal battles, commitment and passion to the sport of mountainbiking, illustrate both the individual and collective culture that these trails breed.

After a successful national premiere tour in New Zealand the film has now been released digitally on iTunes globally, debuting at Number 1 on the New Zealand and Australian iTunes movie charts for documentary. At the time of print Trailnotes retains its Number 1 documentary status in the New Zealand iTunes store and is sitting at Number 4 documentary in the Australian iTunes store. However the most exciting outcome for the filmmakers is that the film currently sits at Number 11 and Number 18 in the Sports charts for the Canadian and United States iTunes stores. Not bad for a little mountainbike film from Rotorua, New Zealand!

The film can be downloaded directly from the US iTunes store.

It is available in 33 countries globally so look it up in your local iTunes store.

DVD's are being shipped exclusively through WAX Entertainment so ask for it at your local bike shop.

Trailnotes was made possible by the generous support of Destination Rotorua, Pinkbike.com, Spoke Magazine, Yeti Cycles NZ, Freeload, Nature Valley, Urge Bike Products and Torpedo7.com. Additional support for the film has been provided by Contour/Revolution Products.

We hope you enjoy the film and thanks again to everyone that has come along to a premiere or downloaded the film!

@austom, you obviously haven't been to RotoVegas for sometime then, what sulphur stench, its long gone for the tourists, oxymoron why they come here, great trails are still here and lots of trail work going since this was filmed, exellent work though on Trail Notes.

If I didn't already live in British Columbia, New Zealand would be my next choice.

Awesome video, I got it from itunes last week.
It really is a great snapshot into the world of Mtb in New Zealand. I love the passion people have for it here and its a perfect example as to why such a small population can have 2 out of the top five @ Mont-Sainte-Anne currently and 5 out of the top 25 overall in DH anyways!

I just wish we can win soon!

I just bought this and was very disappointed. It has very 'normal' riding and lots and lots of talking. It is fair to say, save your money for something else.

re: "Normal" riding, it was because the majority of trails wanted to be portrayed, most of which are only grade 3 or 4

I just bought this movie and was very disappointed. It has about 40 minutes of talking and about 10 riding. I wish I had saved my money.

definitely looks it. Heaps of flow, reminds me a bit of some BC trails such as Half Nelson in Squamish.
