I used to love watching all the new stuff roll out at Interbike but it seems other venues (e.g. Sea Otter and Eurobike) have completely stollen the thunder. Not to mention the big manufactures abandoning ship...
I feel the same, nothing new released that excited me at all. Everything is being released at either Sea Otter, Eurobike, Crankworx or at the brands own media release. It will be interesting to see if Interbike can change with the new world...or just die.
@pedalhound: Just seems a bit irrelevant if all the new stuff is coming out earlier a la automotive world. The big guys are pulling out, so what's the point, just to high light smaller brands who's stuff we've already seen? Costs those companies a lot to rent a booth.
Mtn bike tech is plateauing, fortunately mountain bikes are really great right now, not that a few things couldn't use some improvements...but compared to just 10 years ago bikes are quite amazing now.
If gravity dropper could just figure out a way to get rid of the big ugly boot we could have a 90% great dropper post...
giant's contact switch dropper is already great. it's built on a gas strut instead of having to fiddle with bleeding hydraulic lines. there's a reason all the new droppers out this year are copying that design
@xeren: Very true. I ride Giant's Contact dropper and it works flawlessly. No complaints at all. I route it inside of the frame and its so easy to cut and maneuver because its a cable- highly recommend.
@poozank: got it, you care more about how something looks than reliability. You could probably get a fake carbon fiber wrapped seatpost that lights up in cool colors when you are riding if that's your priority.
Also, the lever works great imo, but since it is cable actuated, you can replace it with a half dozen other options. Some of them are prettier, too!
@unrooted Spot on...I wouldn't go near MTB for decades as the bikes were shocking....now I'm a convert and can't get enough...my road bike hasn't been out for 2 years....
either way, i guess Fox makes sense for you. gotta get that kashima! need it to be extra smooth in case you ever convert your dropper into a fork stanchion
I was over at the Maxxis booth every few hours checking out their stuff. They had all kinds of new tires with a big emphasis on 27.5 x 2.6. I snapped some photos, along with some other crazy plus crap. I was most interested in seeing how wide these tires really were, and how much bike frames are trying to accommodate them.
The Focus Vice would have been nice. Somehow single pivot bikes only got more expensive. Understandable as there is a lot of work that goes into welding up one of these Orange bikes. But if you construct from tubes just like they do with those multi-pivot systems, you could actually end up with a simple single pivot that's affordable.
Every time I go in my LBS these days, they're just sitting around. And this is a really good shop in a land where biting online doesn't exist, language barrier
Have to get to the local bike exhibition next year. It was pretty impressive back in the day with crazy demonstrations, big name riders, and cool stuff. Not too shabby.

Nevertheless big thanks to PB for the coverage.
take a look at the 'must read this week' section, just above your comment
