Sometimes I get home after a race or a good ride and can't help thinking that putting my riding gear in the closet and forgetting about it is a disgrace to the gear that keeps me comfortable and safe day in and day out...
We all have one; our favorite shirt that is so thin we can see our own chest hair through it, our favorite pair of pants with the growing hole on the left knee. Sometimes I find myself thinking I would like to show these articles of clothing off more often than just during riding sessions. But so far the only way I have figured out how to do this is by throwing them in a pile on my floor.
Enter the velo sport hanger. These sleek hangers were designed by Jeff Keller owner of
Sunrise Cyclery in Logan, UT. Made completely out of bicycle wheel parts (rims, spokes, nipples, stems) these little gems exude style. The best part is that you can customize them by choosing which anodized color you want and then writing down your own quote or choosing from several bike related quotes that are already made. If you have a logo or design you want engraved, no problem, they can even do that.

Save the Wells shirt hanging on a velo sport hanger
Besides providing a great way to display your winning race jersey or your favorite holey shirt, these hangers unique curved shape eliminates the "shoulder nipple" that many synthetic materials are plagued by when they are hung on conventional hangers. Just one more way to tell your gear you appreciate all the hard work it does to keep you simply riding...

Sunrise is also manufacturing these hangers out of recycled rims. They have created a kit which provides the instructions and some supplies so that other bike shops can create hangers out of used rims they are tossing. If you are a shop and interested in recycling your trash, give 'em a call.
