Forrest is a man of few words. If you meet him, he won't tell you he is faster than you and his kit is brand new. He won't tell you he consistently places top five in Canada Cup and BC Cup races. He won't tell you that he's just returned from racing World Cups in Europe. At first glance he seems like another easy going guy from the West Coast. But put him on a bike going downhill and you will see the fast side of Forrest. When it comes to racing, he means business. He is constantly analyzing. Picking the best line, studying training books, refining his bike, and pushing his limits to reach his goals.

Training

This year Forrest moved out of the Junior age bracket and up to Elite. So far in Elite he has won his home race on the Sunshine Coast and placed 4th at the first Canada Cup at Mont Tremblant. Stay tuned for more from this up and coming racer.

Yeah on some pretty smooth trails that look perfect for an AM rig, haha. Put out some footage of him on some tech and steep! If he's as fast as it appears (setting a course record by 3 seconds???), it'd be way more entertaining seeing him in some rugged terrain.

By the way, original riding style which is always refreshing to see.
  • 2 0
The trail he set the new race record on is tech in some parts so

I agree with @scott-townes. I don't think he was trying to condescend Forest, cause he's definitely an inspiration. I agree that it would be cool to see him ride on some techy stuff as well as smooth, just to get a different perspective of him as a rider.

Well hey, at least one person was smart enough to understand what I was saying! Haha, I think people are too negative-minded on this site...
  • 1 0
 Yeah, agreed.
  • 1 0
mach chicken isn't that techy... but forrest was on a xc bike the other guys were on dh bikes (most of them anyway) and beating jamie biluk isn't a small feat... I was watching forrest in practice and he was going scary fast though, seeing a dude leaned almost all the way over and sliding in a section that usually wasn't even a corner at average speeds is something I won't forget soon, very aggressive riding

I find it interesting that he looks forward to the nervous feeling before a race. I always think "oh shit I'm feeling a bit nervous" which makes me even more nervous because i've always heard they prevent you from riding at your best. spose i should just embrace them instead.
  • 6 1
Anxiety can actually be useful and beneficial if thought of as facilitative to your success; and not debilitative. Sport psych tip
  • 8 0
you need to understand the butterflies in your stomach is not nervousness, it is excitement. then you can slay the dirt.
  • 5 0
Its adrenaline which is going to make you ride faster, stronger, be more clearheaded and be more on point! Wink
  • 3 0
I get the butterflies when pulling in the parking lot of the more difficult variety of parks/trails. What's funny is if I'm with someone and mention it they're like "Nothing to be scared of". I always reply" Scared? Nervous energy is a good thing.". Adrenaline junkies usually feel the nervous energy. I like it; makes me feel alive.

I love it too dmilet52 - can completely relate...

I love the excited and stoked feeling I get in anticipation of riding, As I always ride well when I'm in a good mood. But when I feel fairly nervous, I tense up and my riding just falls to bits. The nervousness is normally set off by things like wanting to do well at a race or trying something new which is exactly the point at which I want to feel loose but in control rather than tense and anxious.
  • 1 0
I don't rely on caffeine or food before races for my energy, since I know the nervousness before the race will give me adrenaline.

I wanted more shot angles of Forrest railing that berm at 3:25 Frown
Haha 4 wasn't enough for me! Awesome filming and riding!

He's fast, way faster than me

I hope he still has that Batman bike....... such a gem.
  • 5 0
Yeah, whoever his sponsor is, should really take that into consideration and make a downhill version of it!
  • 2 0
If Batman had a DH bike no doubt the Bat Bike would be awesome!
  • 7 1
Good body position on the bike, nice disposition and he has finished 4th in his first elite race. Watch out for this guy, he's going places and fast!!

Tell this kid, he needs to meet me Jesse West. I am goin to crap on this kid sorry but I wasnt mentored by Mark Weir for no reason. Anyone can ride fast on some smooth ass fire roads. Tell the kid to grow some balls and learn to hit some more technical stuff.
  • 10 0
PB, please delete this ^^^ troll already!!
Fully agree a-r-c.
  • 12 0
obviously limabean55 hasn't ridden the Tremblant course, one of the roughest, least flowy, and challenging courses around. Placing 4th on a run that wasn't your best says something. You sir are an idiot.
  • 14 0
Wow, so how did your first world cup race go limabean55?
I'm sorry for every second Mark Weir put into mentoring you unfavorable, socially incompetent toy.
I would enjoy seeing you catching a fist from Brett Tippie instead of being mentored by Mark Weir.
  • 5 0
i''m sure Mark is shaking his head right about now... he may have mentored your riding, but i'm guessing that the pompous a$$hole we're reading here is all you...

@limabeen55 I was thinking the same thing.
  • 2 1
good body position aye, but he needs to cork up those elbows before he takes some ones eye out
  • 4 0
It doesn't even show that you own a DH bike on your profile...

 ?^
  • 1 0
 haters gonna hate
  • 5 0
so smooth.. its like he hovers just off the ground never really touching it
  • 5 0
 Dude can corner
  • 4 0
Dude! Take a look at 3:30 where he goes through the transition between berms on his rear wheel. YEAH he can corner like a mofo. I like about 2:30 also where he uses that tree to bounce off the apex, hauling the mail with a cliff on one side.

That whole Sunshine Coast thing trips me out. Every time I'm driving north to you-know-where I look at all those islands and people getting on ferries and wonder what's going on out there. Rad sh*t like this!

I was thinking of buying a motorbike to get around quickly but I think I'll just get a backy off this dude and get there twice as fast! Wow!
  • 4 0
 That sounds kinda dirty.
  • 5 0
Us Brits think nothing of such banter.
  • 3 0
I'm 16 and I thought I was decent. But now that I saw this I must be slow as a snail.
  • 15 0
Dude, your only as fast as you believe you are. Get those 'slow as a snail' thoughts outta your head and just enjoy your riding, ride with older, faster people and you will get better. THere is always someone faster round the corner but EVERYONE can be beat........
  • 6 3
anarchistx, thanks, now I THINK I can beat Brandon Semenuk...
  • 3 0
Doesn't even look fast until you see how much ground he's covering. So smooth.
  • 4 1
The way the music meshes with his riding, UNMATCHED!!! Nice Edit, hope to see more from you Forrest.
  • 3 0
the road noise from his tires was so clean and consistent...the guy is light on his bike!
  • 2 0
He looks very disciplined in the gym too. Always cool to see a guy's training style in a vid. No doubt he'll be just as smooth a rider 20 years from now.
  • 2 0
I love how he is such a quiet guy. He's like a water pistol that fires 50cal explosive rounds. Quiet whilst packing a punch, I look forward to when he hits UK live Smile
  • 2 0
Wtf... He's freakin fast! Need to re-watch it to see it.
  • 2 0
