however I can agree that the video isn't that great considering it lacked a lot of flow and the tricks weren't all that technical. And by the looks of the video its basically Nothing more than a commercial for Profile's new Freecoaster hub.
@mikereff.... Let's see a BMX vid from 20 years ago that compares. I'm willing to bet you can't even hold a manual or do a fakie, so your opinion of his technical abilities prob aren't all that credible.
That edit was awesome, and the skills required to pull a lot of that stuff take years of practice. Love seeing edits like this, as well as trials influenced guys like Akrigg that can blur lines between different styles of riding
Does everything we watch and do have to be "progressive"? Yeah we do like to see news tricks, bigger air etc. but sometimes it's ok to just appreciate a riders skillz even if they aren't the best in the world or whatever. It's about having fun and personal expression, dammit! Then on the list of importance comes progression...not first though.
Just watched the video, Adam pulls a lot of super techy tricks in here which are actually insanely hard to do (such as the walltap to fakie slider down the bank to halfcab off the bank, the pressure jam up that wall above the bank, the fakie to halfcab double tyreslide down the wall, etc. These tricks might not look as impressive to people who don't know much about street, but these are actually some of the tricks you need most bike handling skills for. Everyone can learn how to bunnyhop tailwhip (not that Adam can't do this, because he can), but tricks like these are purely based on insanely high control over your bike. To be able to pull off stuff like this will take you much more years of riding than the average video you see nowadays where people only do tricks on easy set ups that are made for tricks.
Adam has one of the sickest skills out there, but what makes him unique is the creativity he shows in every single of his videos. This guy can also do flairs, double barspins nearly everywhere, do shit like barspin to footjam on top of a quarter, to barspin back into the quarter etc. But he chooses to rather pull unique tricks that are often equally hard or even harder. It just takes a real street rider to notice the level of the stuff he's doing. It's not comparable to the 'lets do backflips everywhere' Nitro Circus style of riding that nearly every other rider does. Apples and oranges. And Adam can do both. That's why this dude has been my fav rider for around 8 years now. Awesome guy in person too.
Awesome edit and awesome skills. Can make a poor mans freecoaster like I have and convert your rear hub to 4 speed and run the spacers toward the frame from the lowest cog, does the job, just remember you need to upshift before pedalling again though!! Not a new idea either, has been around for years, I think Aaron Chase did this years ago while he rode for Cannondale.
Lenosky is an awesome rider. Either way, be it him or Chase, the concept works and is really fun to play with (I would run a free hub, but too poor and/or lazy to build up a dedicated freecoaster wheelset these days haha)
That's pretty sick but I almost wish it had just a little more information about the hub itself... I mean not even a link to Profile's page or a snippet about the technical aspects of the hub.
Wow I've never heard of Bruce Crimsan, but he completely sends it! that was ridiculous, a ten stair drop riding fakie with a freecoaster? and that fakie x up, thanks for that link man!
Apples and oranges. Adam has a totally different riding style. It's like comparing Drew Bezanson to Harry Main. Both are awesome and super skilled, but you can't really compare them because their riding styles are totally different.
Ahh reminds me of my GT Pro Performer, rolling backwards with the aid of what we called a 'coaster brake' on the rear hub of my Skyway Tuff 2's. 1984/5, those were the days.
@Mattin yes, but tricks like fakie whip to fakie, fakie frontflip in a quarter is way easier with freecoaster. And when he did moves, that he already did with a cassette...
@Mattin I know, Mark Webb and non-famous rider from Russia did it with chain and on cassette. But on tricks like that freecoaster can really help. And yes, I cant see any fun riding on a such stupid setup-mtb with a freecoaster.
The mtb street scene is currently closer to BMX than ever. Most of them run pegs, BMX spaced hubs, many of them ride rigid forks and ride brakeless. Pretty much 24" or 26" BMX bikes. No need to hate on the lines between the genres slowly dissapearing. In the end all that matters is what the rider enjoys most. Wether that is riding a BMX or hucking the streets on a downhill bike. Stop worrying about what people think of you, just do what you enjoy doing most.
Although it is indeed true that ex-sovjet countries often don't share these kind of open-minded opinions.
@Mattin man, its simple. Ride for fun, yes. I talk about destination. Can u ever see really cool riding (like Garrett or someone like him) on mtb? No,never. And if u want to do just simple tricks, u dont need ugly bike, its all easy to do on normal dj/ss bike.

Thanks @adrennan for not being a douche.
Anyway, it was kinda refreshing to hear Gangstarr in an edit.
