Every year most of the UK based pro riders try and escape the cold, wet weather and get abroad for some riding and training. Brendog is no different as he headed out to Ride Portugal for a week's riding, filming and training at the start of 2015. As you can see in the video the tracks are amazing, weather was great and those are two big things that it has over UK riding...

just like San Diego, great culture (mix of mexico and U.S. Phillipine, Vietnam, Japan, China, Italy, Germany and Ireland), Great weather, AMAZING food (review countries from culture) and beautiful women...

I forgot Indian food and culture, We're currently getting a HUGE influx of them in San Diego (california) but this mix of culture, food and people and great weather is to be said for all of California.

And what exactly is your f*cking point then?

you've finally got something to brag about.
  • 7 0
I would call you an arrogant prick. But that would be too polite and refined for an ignorant meathead like you.
  • 9 0
Typical American attitude , can't just be happy having some thing with out bragging/shouting mouth off/being a wanker about it , I'd take Portugal over San diego any day of the week just to avoid cock sure trouser ferrets like you

cock sure trouser ferrets... shit you guys are creative with those insults.
  • 5 1
@bigburd, come on. All Americans aren't McDonalds eating arrogant pricks. Dude there are just as many of us that are friendly and polite. I'd give the shirt off my back to anyone and everyone I could help all day long. Ignore the noise. People like that don't represent us well. It's a shame.

"As you can see in the video the tracks are amazing, weather was great and those are two big things that it has over UK riding"

What a load of rubbish, we have some of the best tracks in the world in the UK, Scotland is epic, much more to it than just the Fort Bill you see on the UCI calender, wales is a haven of DH spots again, so much more than revo, antur and BPW and in England whilst we don't have the length and overall height wharncliffe is some of the steepest most tech DH you can ride, hamsterley is ace, forest of dean is flat out DH fun.

Trust me, the UK is full of amazing tracks and Portugal has nothing on us
  • 4 1
And I also quite like our odd weather, makes for better riders and your skin is water proof! I was at bike park wales Tuesday, at points it was t-shirt hot and sunny, then there was some wind, two spots of hail and a bit of rain to end the day. I always find that at the end of our summer I am longing for sloppy trails and I am bored of the dust, love winter riding
  • 5 0
mate when there is two inches of snow it is all good fun to ride your bike. But if you are training then it is a bummer. The UK is a excellent place to ride hands down especially with the bike parks. But these trails are hand built from a UK bred rider. I have been there and first hand experienced these trails they are proper dh trails and the weather is alot better than the uk.
  • 3 1
I'm not saying these tracks aren't great and yeah escaping the weather is fantastic, I'm pointing out that the way the article is written suggests the UK doesn't have any decent DH tracks
  • 4 0
Obviously he was a bit biased since he was promoting the spot. In Portugal we have great trails but we are underdeveloped comparing to the UK because of our people's mentality. Politicians boycott sport instead of promoting it and trails are built exclusively by riders, most times illegally. It's a shame actually because we have excellent conditions and lovely places for mountain biking. We just can't reach them... yet.

 @Mcfc1987

In terms of steepness and required technical ability, Portuguese tracks are not as far away from the ones in the UK as you're thinking...There is a reason why so many world cup riders come to Portugal to train in the off-season...
  • 1 0
@Mcfc1987 Actually skin isn't waterproof, when swimming the body can absorb up to a teaspoon of water through the skin.

P.S. Brendan is rad and so are UK tracks.
  • 1 0
yes, they like it a lot ,from the ones i spoken like same dale a few years back he was loving it here and stayed quite some time and he is here now withe the team, al bond(came here like 3 times last year alone) gareth brewin and friends they liked a lot and raced here too, cool people and fun to ride with, also raced along and talked with rob Williams and in 2013 stayed here 3 months and came here last year like 2 times , this are your pro riders i talked with and know they liked it here, you can put more that trained here like the syndicate, nuke proof team, giant and i lot more that i don't remember . and to that add the regular guy's like us that come to ridePortugal, or wheeler's place in lousa and a lot of you enjoy our country ,tracks and weather
