"he goes slower with every turn of the crank" and "a speed wheelie" And last but not least "his friends call him Norby..."- worst commentators in the history of rampage, but it was pretty hilarious listening to them...
Also in loose terrain like that, pedalling in the wrong spots will in fact slow you down. You will lose the flow and thus get a little balled up in holes and bumps. Not pedalling but pumping and working the terrain is better to maintain speed in that kind of environment...
Speed wheelie on the other hand... no idea what they were thinking when they said that haha
Those guys that commentated last year were worse than horrible. I turned the sound off after a while. Maybe this year they could put some cameras at the interesting parts of the DH runs too! And just to be clear here, we're talking about Claudio, Tippie, and Rob Warner right?
I love Claudio for his course previews, but that time he commentated wasn't really that great. Warner, however, is a must for any good downhill race! "Look 'ow fast he's going!" "Look at the time!!" Claudio left me wanting more in the commentators box.
Claudio's course previews are some of the best mountain biking videos out there. World class courses, pure sound and no music, pro-level speeds and skill, and he sounds like he's having more fun than I've ever seen anyone have.
Plus, none of them have a minute long intro featuring slow motion rocks and puddles.
GOTT-DAMMIT, I LOVE this guy, his energy, and his passion for the sport. Every course preview is a gift. =) This is why they should let Warner be himself in the announcer's box: high-energy, unpredictability, and passion mixed with a bit of humor are the characteristics that will draw more viewers in... not a milquetoast robot that sounds like a lobotomized golf announcer...
Does anyone have the tally of how many chase-cam riders were killed trying to follow Claudio? I know one guy slammed at Hafjell a few years back...
Claudio and I are the same, well aside for the fact that I'm slow, my style sucks, and my frame has snapped. I could go on and on with the comparisons, but I'll just watch the video again instead.

You can't script that. GOLD
