@poah Marcelo and Claudio must take a colombian cup of coffe to talk about the fastest line of this course. Everyday we have sometime new to learn. Go Marcelo ¡¡
To not have the race run on the topsoil of the off camber section before the rock garden. So they had to scrape the soil off will have to replace it afterwards.
Yeah Australia and Socal have very similar weather. It's was not uncommon in the past for Sam Hill to be training in Socal for the winter when the dirt is great and weather is cooled off, compared to his home in Aus that would be really hot and dry(summer time)
Yes that is because his team manager at the time lived at the bottom of that trail so anytime Sam was in town you could bet on seeing him up there on the hill. From what I've read the trail was built before Sam ever came over but it kept his name since then.
I'm keen to see what Fearon does. After how well he did in Leogang and the conditions are similar to South Australia. I'm hoping he'll pull something huge.
No , one guy said it was boring , the rest just said it didn't look challenging for the pro's , but this footage changed my mind some what , looks pretty awesome
Not just that post, actually all of the track building videos people bashed on it and said it was lame for months. And yes i agreed with you bigburd that it looked bike parkish and still does a little, but at race pace it turns into a whole new track. Also after some practice sessions i am sure it will get more interesting.
As a teenager I too watched films of others doing it and thought I had a feelign for how it's done, as a result developing my own ideas of what's rough and what isn't for whom. First touch with reality felt very awkward though and just like many theoreticians I failed to live up to my own expectations.
Most WC tracks are going to look bikeparkish in places, but that's usually because they are. They're the easiest to hold races on, and there are only so many ways you can link the tech sections up over ski pistes.
Raising hand.... I was one of the people. I said it looked boring. That may change on race day or as the riders get out on track but right now that's how I feel.
But please understand that MDRipper is still talking a bit out of context. I never said the track it self was boring. These guys look like they are having a blast riding it and I would surely have trouble with it. But I was never talking about riding the track. I was talking from the point of view of a fan watching the best riders in the world ride it. And to me while its high speed, it doesn't look like its going to be that much of a challenge for the worlds best riders. And from a fans perspective that can be boring, regardless of how much fun the riders may be having on course.
I remember going to a Grundig WC at Mt Snow c1998 and thinking "hey signing up for the DH race is like the cost of 2 lift tickets..." yeah that trail was a real eye opener. I must have walked about 75% of the technical stuff! Race day I knew where the spot to watch from was though - a big drop immediately into a hairpin. LOTS of crashes that day. Watching the pros, wow. Just wow.
Looks awesome and I, for one, love Claudio's commentary - it's real not some schtick or rehearsed BS. Can't wait - should be some killer shootouts among the top riders for both M & W.
I want to ride with Claudio, the tears of laughter would help keep the contacts lubricated in dusty conditions. He seems to have a love for life that is infectious, I think we could all use more friends and riding buddies like him. Long live Claudio!
"la grischa" is the romansh word for "Graubünden" and is the region in which Lenzerheide is placed in. the hole phrase is in romansh, one of the four official languages spoken in (little) switzerland. you got that second part right, but nope, it has nothing to do with greece...
thanks man!!! in this difficult times when everybody talks about Greece... I thought Claudio gave his public support eheheh !
viva la grischa !!! cacca la camischa for ever !!!
Pretty sure Claudio would have completely dusted Marcelo if he didn't stop and let him past that means he could possibly get a top 10 on race day. Claudio for president 2016!
Lets not forget that Claudio had a hand in designing the track and knew lines Marcelo wouldn't that early in practice. There should be no questions that Claudio is legit on a bike though.
The helmetcam is great, but switching to the chestcam all the time is really annoying, sorry Claudio but I switched it off in the middle, just too frustrating.
Claudio was a WC DH racer in the late 1990s/early 2000s - he is a 4 times Swiss national DH champion, and helped build the track... I am pretty sure he knows the lines better than a lot of current WC racers.
That may well have been Marcelo's first run as well. The other person in the course preview usually hasn't even walked the course. Remember Mannon getting lost?

He shall shred the course
