this is so dope because it's mountain biking...not some crap that a dude on a BMX bike could do with twice the style, but huge burly hits. DH bikes on big jumps anyday over DJ bikes on bmx hits....nice.
Bmx is legendary but mountain biking can't try and copy it. Mtb in general has to break apart from bmx or it wont go anywhere. Just watch Redbull dreamline... Bigger than lots of mtb contests
yes Bicycle Motocross is insane so are DJ mountain bikes and they both get lots and lots of coverage, guys riding big bikes on big hits like this is not that common would be nice to see more of it if thats ok w BMX riders haha
what about those guys that hit the HUGE ass bmx dirt jumps? those things where almost just as big as this, and built better. This is DOPE though! I can only imagine pulling a FAT superman over the monster kicker, sooooo much time!
@ raymond-george, look bmx is legendary but so is mtb. In bmx guys aren't doing 60 footers through knar. Bmx can get some pretty big jumps but it is smooth as hell. these guys just went out on some big 35 pound bikes un like the 5 pound bmx, and did some jumps that would break a bmx frame in half. Pretty sure mtb is just as if not more legendary
i got what you were saying raymond and you are absolutely correct. mtb cannot try and copy bmx with DJ bikes. mtb has to be its own thing. the fest series is a huge step in the right direction, moto tricks on big bikes on even bigger jumps. mentioning dreamline was a perfect reference. bmx riders go just as big or bigger than DJ riders. so whats the point of DJ copying 10 year old bmx tricks if the amplitude isnt greater?
bmx for perfectly sculpted jumps, DJ bikes for slightly less well built jumps where you need the forgivingness and DH bikes for insane jumps. that overshoot though, if he were on a DJ or BMX he would have died. size doesn't matter, as people have already discussed with the fact that dreamline is huge, its how much forgiveness you want from your bike.
Here's an idea, how about we all ride the bikes we enjoy riding on the jumps/trails we enjoy riding them on. I personally find a BMX too small and twitchy and a DH bike too heavy and overkill for what I ride. But a dirt jump bike/slopestyle rig is just about perfect. If anything my local DH trails are better suited to an enduro/all mountain bike. Ride what you are comfortable on and you will ride better and be happier because of it.
I've seen some of the jumps that have taken me a year to work up to on video and they're f*ckin embarrassing. Then I saw myself go off them on video and it was even more embarrassing! Don't really give a sh*t though cuz it feels like I'm flyin and that's all that matters!
@adam102. Hahaha. Brilliant and so true. Watched so many vids of bike parks thinking..... yeah, easy, breeze that. Get there and sh@t myself! It's awesome tho, I love it!!!!! Amazing video. Well done to all of them and thank you.
I didn't realize how much I dislike techno in edits until I started reading the comments here. That being said I dislike metal in edits too.....am I banned now?
the shock mount is the same as the session with the full floater but the rear looks similar to an aurum making it slightly rearward travel, If rocky ever releases this bike it will be sick form the looks of it!
Woah! Completely forgot i was watching mtb for a second, absolutely huuuge. Those guys have so much style and pace. Its such a breathe of fresh air to see massive laid out stylish tricks rather than mega combos and elaborate complex tricks.
If they put together a longer edit of just helmet/bike cam footage of this event, I'd be glued to it. I'll never be able to ride anything anywhere near this big (I like my bones and they like me) so it'd be great to at least experience some of what these dudes have achieved!
So worth the wait, this shit is insane. So much style and air time. Pushing the sport in the right direction here. Aggy and Lacondaguy killing it with the big bike 360s
So damn amazing. Will attend next year, not enough notice to make a trip of it this time, but now I have something to look forward to for next spring. Hopefully this carries enough weight to make an annual thing of it going forward.
Damn, son. It's nice to see this sport and its riders progressing so fast, especially Andreu Lacondeguy - that guy has been around for a long time and he's still paving the way.
Love the line that was filmed with the sun directly behind the rider so you could see his shadow on the land while he was still airborne! Sickest looking train at the end too. Super cool stuff!
Am i the only one who thinks that the Athertons should get involved in the fest series and bring it to their line at the quarry? Would love to see those guys shredding the place up!
I like that there is minimal slow-mo; so many edits these days are ruined by it. What could have been an awesome 2min edit gets dragged out to 5mins; this on the other hand is excellent!
I take it Vanderham was riding a proto RMB frame? I figured something new is coming down the pipeline because having just one Flatline model this year is bogus.
So much air time..
Those gaps are good for Ken Block's Monster tuned Ford Fiesta
And to think, this year is just a taste on what's to come! Gobsmacked and flabbergasted I am!
That being said I dislike metal in edits too.....am I banned now?
Pretty please?
Does anyone have another link for this video??
Vimeo is banned in my country
this bloody barracuda kills youtube / vimeo
Andrews supermans were insane !
