Prescott is an hour north of Phoenix and cooler than Phx temperatures in the summer due to its elevation (the town is 5500 feet aka 1670 meters) and lack of concrete compared to Phoenix (no 100 degree action in Prescott when you go to bed like Phoenix gets in the summer).
In the winter it is an hour and change to Phoenix trails and trails like the Black Canyon Trail system are 35-45 minutes away.
An hour or so north of Prescott is Flagstaff and Sedona is about 40-45 minutes away.
If you want to drive to Moab from Prescott you are looking at about 6-7 hours depending on how heavy your foot is and what path you take to get there.
Arizona has its share of wackiness but if you dig outdoor stuff it is pretty nifty.
Great little vid showcasing the Northern AZ scene. The only place in N. AZ that usually comes to most people's minds when it comes to riding is Sedona. Good to see our little slice of heaven getting more recognition. AZ is one of the best kept secrets in MTN biking. But the word is definitely gettin out.
I grew up in P-Town. Moved back after living in Huntington Beach for 12 years, and I must admit Its not a boring little town any more. Seems like every other car has a bike rack ! Lots of trails that are very well thought out and its rumored that some people are starting a shuttle business soon. Hell ya !
That think the old guys were building at the beginning of the video is hardly a trail. It is a road. There is a huge difference between the two. I'm sure it would be fun to ride down, but it is not a trail. Anything built with an excavator is not a trail, it is a road. Just saying.
loads of trails are built with excavators, and over time it will green up, with eventually only the lines most ridden/used showing in the dirt. I do see your point though
That's a mini excavator, the tracks can narrow down to three feet wide. That's hardly a road width. Plus they can move lots of dirt in a short period of time, much better than shoveling.
