Fortunate enough for Joe Rager, he has some epic trails within a five minute drive. If only we were all lucky enough. The trail sits up at some elevation which provides great views of the valleys below and local mountains. The upper sections are open to the sky and cause victim to those riding it during a hot, sunny afternoon, such as Joe. The elevated sections are also littered with old, fallen down trees, The young, scattered evergreens are in the near observing there eventual fate. After taking a turn and submersing yourself into the forest, the trail gains a new feel. This is also where Joe blew up a few of his spokes. I had never seen anything quite like it. A closer look revealed that he slid his back wheel into a rock and snapped his spokes. We continued on.

Scoping lines

The event did hinder us though. We weren’t able to film other parts of the trail, because the wheel was right at its breaking point. I am almost surprised he finished out the trail like he did.

We hope to get out again on this trail and film it thoroughly.

All I got to say is he really needed and used all 8 inches of travel.

When you hit the back end that hard, all you need to do is twist them nipples for full release and you'll have her back in the game in no time.

It would probably be helpful to mention WHERE home is....

On the far end of town, where the Grickle grass grows and the Truffala trees flourish. Also known as Southwest Washington.

I approve of the relevance of your comment.

I like this. This is probably what real riding is like for most of us. The video isn't sped up a ton (ahem andreu) and the jumps aren't superhuman. Looks like a trail any of us could have a ton of fun on without ending up in the hospital.

Actually this video does no justice to the actual steepness of the trail, me and my dad built this trail specifically to be a gnarly race training trail, it's built for a cat 1, pro/junior ex rider to have a hard time riding it, also for you to get down the trail with a smile on your face saying hell yeah!!! stay tuned for a newer video by me and Alex filming the full potential of the trail and non exploded wheels!

question....if this is 5 minutes from home, why not just shoot again the next day. you know, after the spokes are replaced.
  • 6 1
 Sheesh, man. Hatin' all over.

Well a few reasons… I work full time, and he goes to school. Also, although it may be 5 minutes from his house, it's close to an hour from where I live. Lastly, since the rim itself was pretty blown, he could not afford to replace his wheel the next day.

Thanks for the question!

Oh shiet....sorry man. Didn't mean to come across that way. Good stuff all around....broken spokes make it even more Mad Max like. Cheers!

Pretty ballsy riding like that with a wheel missing two spokes!
