France is a historic nation for mountain biking - a country rich with heritage and architecture - but one that has fallen behind in the field of urban downhill. No one thought it was possible to organize Urban DH in France due to heavy administrative procedures. This changed on November 16 through XtremEvents that in the space of a few months will become the French representative for this event format.

Urban Grasse

There will be a before and an after Urban DH Grasse by Xtreme Events, as attested by the thousands gathered in the streets and crowd who experienced the fast riders raced down the amazing, crazy, slopes.
It is true that the world capital of perfume particularlydelivered a crzy track with close to 300 stairs, and narrow tunnel walls that could eat handlebars.

The XtremEvents team added artificial arrangements including a road gap and the track was so fast riders could break (almost) the speed of sound! There was also a plate of semi-trailer to jump and in many places in the town it was like in the slopes of the Alpes d'Huez during the "Tour de France" with crowds of people that riders rode through like the walls of the city.

It was just crazy.

XE: After an intense battle with your two friends Loic Bruni and Loris Vergier, you manage to take the win.

Yoann Barelli: The battle was great and as you say, very intense!!! Run after run my time fell, it was really given this ring!!! Lolo and Loris were not there for stringing beads, they understand me well and said verbally... they wanted me to bend. But an angry Barelli fears neither the pressure nor the menaces, on the contrary, it transcends ha ha ha ha.

XE: Did you expect as many spectators and such an atmosphere?

Yoan Barelli: I do not think anyone expected such a success in terms of atmosphere and crowd at Grasse! It was just huge. We had chills before reaching the road gap so the audience howled. It is the feeling that you mark and that makes you vibrate.

"I wasn't expecting such a big crowd at the race, it was busy since the practice on the morning to the last run of the day. We could felt that a lot of them weren't use to MTB and loved it, screaming to everyone because they were stoked to see that kind of thing in their town. So, positively surprised and confident in the fact that the show was good and I hope we will be Welcome next year to come back.
