White Style 2015 - 15 Bike Checks

Feb 14, 2015
by Mike Levy
Leogang, Austria, hosted the first stop of the 2015 FMB tour this weekend, with Szymon Godziek taking the win on the snow and Matt Jones and Daryl Brown, both from Britain, rounding out the podium. Photographer Bartek Wolinski was there to catch all the action, including snapping the riders and their bikes between runs.

Whitestyle 2015
Pavel Alekhin is gaining a rep for one of the most technical riders out there, with the Russian and his Bergamont living in some sort of video game world where anything is possible. You could rock a pink bike as well if a flip double bar to whip was in your catalog.

Whitestyle 2015
Here's some DIY for you: Alekhin runs his bike brakeless, but the conditions and setup saw him needing to slow down. The answer was to obviously mount up a brake, and taping it to his top tube let him not worry about hose length.

Whitestyle 2015
Germany's Max Mey rocking the skin wall out back.

Whitestyle 2015
Lukas Knopf with his black on black Rose.

Whitestyle 2015
Alex Alanko poses with his Dartmoor. No word on how he got those jeans pulled over his knee pads, but we're impressed.

Whitestyle 2015
Matt Jones was pumped, as he should be given that his superman flip took him to second place.

Whitestyle 2015
Soren Krahl made the trip from Germany with his Santa Cruz.

Whitestyle 2015
Simon Pages was one of the few riders using a mouth guard.

Whitestyle 2015
Here's a rig that you don't see often: Daryl Brown's Bulls dirt jumper that he was throwing beautiful 360 tuck no-handers on.

Whitestyle 2015
Franck Paulin and his GT. With a Stan's Flow EX rim out back and a standard Flow up front, his bike was likely one of the lighter ones out there.

Whitestyle 2015
Nico Scholze pulled out a tsunami flip on the last jump but lost it during the 720 in his second run. Also, check out that dropped Magura Wotan fork on the front of his Dartmoor. By the way, Wotan is a deity often associated with German paganism, as well as a villain in the Doctor Who series. The more you know...

Whitestyle 2015
Czech rider Jakub Vencl rode his Rose to 6th place.

Whitestyle 2015
Adrian ''6 meters too far'' Tell was going absolutely massive on his yellow Merida.

Whitestyle 2015
Mehdi Gani's bike is blacked out, sports a set of trick Hope wheels, and it was his birthday this weekend. You might say that everything's coming up Mehdi.

Whitestyle 2015
  The day's winner, Szymon Godziek.

Why aren't they doing it on FAT BIKES? They are for the snow DUH.
  • 1 0
 Maybe on a 24' fatbike?

What Pavel Alekhin did with his brake is insane, I would never of thought of doing that! Also, damn Simon Pages' bike is looking good!!
  • 5 1
Why not put the brake on the seat post so that way he won't hit it by accident? Just sit down and pull when needed. But I guess his was a fast and still quite innovative solution Smile

He can probably just tap it with his knee to scrub a bit of speed before sending it
  • 1 0
i was wondering how's timing pavel hit that brake..looks so awkward
  • 1 1
As talented as he is that looks like a serious potentiial nutsack or ringpiece tearer,Didnt Cedric Garcia nearly bleed out from copping a brake leaver in the femoral artery awhile back?
  • 1 0
@bikerchef1 I never even thought of that, I guess he just had to trust himself haha

The GT with the Pike doesn't have an old Stans Flow up front, it's the new graphics for the Flow EX.
  • 7 0
 That skinwall'd dartmoor is delicious!
  • 7 2
Whats with all the super tight pants?
  • 3 1
that seems to be the popular slopestyle these days
  • 6 2
Yeah goin' down 'cuz you got clothing caught on the rig was sooo 2011. :/
  • 12 1
Baggy pants and chainrings don't go along very well
  • 4 2
Also, if you don't wear skinny jeans with a bit of 40% sag, no one will be able to check out that nice but you're rockin'. And let's not forget, normal straight pants hide those pretty, bent, X-up legs of yours. Priorities Smile
P.S. Tighter stretch jeans are really comfortable and really durable and I wear mine with pride. You get them for 1/16 of the price of riding shorts. So, at the end of the day, it's all about the math, riding jeans for the whole year or riding shorts for a couple of rides. You choose Smile

@carfreak2000 There is a happy medium between baggy pants and skin tight stretch pants...

Let's just call them what they are... jeggings. These dudes are all wearing jeggings. The next time i turn around these dudes will all be wearing straight up roadie tights with an acid wash denim pattern printed on there.

All rad rides, but Nico's Dartmoor FTW. The pipes on the God's Petrol look soooo small. Like impossibly so. Awesome ride though.

So Pavel is on the fast track to a Darwin Award I guess.
  • 3 0
lucas knopf , i love your bike m8
  • 3 1
That Rose is a beast! It has a 12mm rear and is stiffer than me before I close all 56 tabs on the browser!
  • 2 0
 Fuck yeah, Szymon's representing!
  • 1 2
Overal I think that GT looks nicest, but I would be super scared running those super light XC rims. Pavel's DIY brake lever on is top tube rocks! For some unexplainable reason I actually like the pink camo aswell.
  • 8 0
Those aren't xc rims. They are all-mtn rims and are also used on some downhill rigs
  • 1 0
Yeah haha...Kona Factory DH team runs those rims. Pretty sure Aggy had them at Rampage too. Anything that was on Aggy's bike during Rampage deserves product of the year
  • 2 1

Yeah, when Marzocchi did it forever, no one liked the black stantions, but now when RS did it, it's unique. Trends, what can you do Smile
  • 1 1
