While browsing Pinkbike, one of the lettuces came across an article detailing the decline of UK uplift venues. So, after a long bleak winter of pushing XC bikes up boggy fields and windy moors, the boys packed up the wagons and headed over to Moelfre, North Wales for the first MTBUplifts.co.uk session of the year. The track of choice for riders on the day was the new BDS track that intersects the valley from the top of the hill. Filled with new awkward doubles, rocky steeps and a long field straight up top, it's clear the July national round is set to be a success.
As for the state of the UK uplift scene; anyone who's been to one of these events can tell we've got nothing to worry about. Farmer Jack was running the tractors up the hill with his trademark hat and pipe, having a laugh with the riders. Banter levels on the trailers were at a high. John from MTBUplifts who was organising the event was always on hand to help out, with his team cruising around the hills in their landy checking up on the riders, and giving their supported rider Will Brignal a few cheeky lifts in the process. These events comes highly lettuce recommended, so get down and support your local scene.
Cheers!
