Just finished writing an essay for uni and thought i would check pinkbike quickly before going to sleep, it was quater past three in the morning and i'm so tired, but was so worth staying up an extra half an hour to watch this. Absolutely ace! Quite tempted to go out for a cruise on the ol' bike now
Really well done, I enjoyed it all, and for free too which was great! Nice to see a local production, well done! I liked seeing the same trails ridden several times, allowed us to see different rider's styles.
sooooo good. 2 questions... was that a girl that was like "now I'm gonna hike half an hour up to the top again!"? And second, McMaster is a sick last name.
The overlayed 'bike' sounds got incredibly annoying - I almost had to mute it halfway through.
Other than that it was pretty cool - very oldschool vibe going on. Have to say though - cutting up a car to the point which it has to do an emergency stop is NOT cool, I don't know what made you decide to put that in the section :/
Dear residents of Squamish, Whislter and the entire North Shore,
Please will you adopt me or give me a job and a visa so that I can come and LIVE WITH YOU FOREVER.
Yours sincerely,
Every mountain biker in England.
really well edited i like this video alot. but whats up with every bike sounding the same after every drop or jump?. i noticed it from andrew teit and connor mcdougall's parts were the worstg for both bikes sounding the same. but besides that everything else was deffinatly wicked and makes me wanna go ride some single track. soo sick
I would definitely agree to all those, points. The whole film has got some beautiful camera shots, awesome riders, and it's edited really well. I am stoked that they got The Glitch Mob in for the some of the music too.
I hate what the sound editors did though... adding excess of foley to imitate sound effects does not make it better! It worked in Life Cycles because they had enough unique sounds but just comes off as a bit cheesy since every bike sounds like a rusted beater that is about to fall apart.
Also totally agree. When the kid doing DJ on the hardtail SINGLE SPEED gets the same annoying clattering mech sound over and over again as a full suss hitting a big drop it starts to really sound dumb and fake. Other than that an amazing job done with some inspiring locations and excellent score.
haha i was gonna make a comment but i thought everyone would shit all over my opinion. yeah the sound production was poor for this movie. and it was a bit too contrasty for my taste. but besides that, it was beautiful, and free. soooo yeah!
Yeah same places kind of bore if they keep popping up.
Perhaps they could have done it as locations being the segments and the group of riders hitting the same lines within that.
That being said it looks really well polished and its pretty cool that they released it for free.
loved the pan beneath the heli... why have i never seen that before? we all know it's a heli but everyone tries so hard to avoid that fact, it's great to see a shot that gives convention the finger and shouts out, "hey, check it out! we got a camera... on the bottom of a helicopter! ..and we can get sick shots with it!"
You know it's a good video when you're immediately wanting to know what the tracks are called as soon as you hear them. Really good video that does a top notch job of showing just how awesome biking is getting. Mega props to the guys that bust their balls to get these kind of productions together. I really do think their work is underrated. In terms of "every landing sound the same" etc, - you can't deny that they didn't tell you so in stating that post audio effects were added...Thumbs up from me - awesome job!
awesome video, some brilliant aspects to this, editing, scenery, trails! however the soundtrack choice variety could be widened, and some of the foley was annoying (bikes jingling about). overall, a very wellmade and brilliant film project. +1
I liked the Miranda Miller section - solid riding style without the unnecessary 'steeze' that seems to infiltrate most riders' style the second a camera points at them. She's all business.
Someone must tell me exactly how I can get to these trails. It looks like somewhere above(literally) Squamish B.C. I'm coming through BC/Whistler Northwestern U.S. again this summer and need to get more gnarly bad arse trails like this. Please e-mail me at rory.carrier@gmail.com if you have any hints. Thanks.
Amazing work @ everyone involved, first 2 seggies were the highlight for me. You got some unreal shots on Lorax as well! Really, really enjoyed this movie...
That was fantastic.......great job! Was the majority of this shot in the Squamish area? Wherever it was, it was awesome. Thanks again for the extremely high quality flick.......for free no less!
Really well produced! I like the fact that it's not just a bunch of pro riders. This is actually closer to what a lot of people's riding looks and feels like.
pretty nice video! stoked to be able to view it without paying anything
BUT - don't take soundtracks from other (pretty famous) videos, especially when they are quite fresh.. - and the landing-soundeffects sound like doing a dirtjump with grandmas citybike..
sinceramente........ fiquei desiludido, esta porreiro, mas esperave mto mais......
a bit disapointing, it's good but i was expecting much better.....................
Such a sweet video, i dont know how to take the clanky bike sounds, on one hand very intimate rider perspective, on the other hand could have toned the rider mic down a bit, either way way sick video.
That was RAD..! It's good to see a film once in a while with just plain good riding in it, not full of tricks and slo-mo effects. The only disappointment was when it ended...
However, I just wished these professional riders will set a good example for younger riders who idolized them when it comes to safety. One of the riders was not wearing gloves. Another one no knee pads. No other safety gear aside from a helmet and goggles? I know it looks cool and awesome, but when a young rider follows suit and crash, it's a bad thing.
These pro riders are paid by sponsors and bike companies to show off their skills and to look awesome on the trails. Parents pay the hospital bills when their sons crashed without wearing a safety gear because their idols doesn't wear one.
Is it too much to put a caption, "This Ride was done by a professional. Please always wear a safety gear when riding"?
Are you serious everyone is wearing pads there under there jeans in 2 of the riders shots. Everyone is wearing a helmet. Gloves??? seriously I think you should go ahead and teach your kids better gear lessons besides bitching about gloves. Ive crashed with gloves one and it didnt stop me from getting stiches......... Get a life.........
It is a bit much to ask tbh, because its personal choice whether you wear your pads/gloves or not. Helmets, Yes. Other pads arent exactly as necessary. Theyre great, yeah. but not needed ALL the time. Everyone should start off riding wearing their pads. but kids dont all look at what a rider's got on their legs/hands/arms...
Look, im just saying its the way the sport goes. You dont see people slapping labels over every other extreme sport 'oh by the way dont do backflips on your motorbike cause it could hurt". Kids should have the common sense to wear thier pads, not be told by every video out that they need them... Most pros wear pads anyway if you didnt notice...
Sorry Phil. My comment was uncalled for. I don't wish harm to anybody. Anyway, most videos or promos on extreme sport now have warning labels. Maybe in time it will spill over to extreme mountain biking.
great video... but I would only buy this on disc if it was redone without those bloody sounds... otherwise awesome, but seriously... the sound effects suck
I keep watching PB vids and a few seconds in it stops and goes to some random google ads even thought I let the entire Vid load first. Any idea on whats going on??
Apart from that I love the intro! (thats all Ive seen)!
it was a great vid but i didnt like how the same sections were reapeted over and over and the colour felt all wrong and fake with music that just doesnt fit at all with the film but still liked it.
First time I saw Kevin Landry was on his promo vid: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyZccjomNT0 Very cool film, shame we don't have much stuff like that over here... Defo get the thumbs up from me!!!
Just what I was thinking, weird sounding music indeed. Extremely well done though, loving the raw wipeout footage!
By the way hard core logo is the shit
Im with you there I watched it with my 4 year old son and he loved it. Everytime there was a crash he was like daddy there not very good huh they crashed. If only nobody ever crashed that would be awsome. But great film there was great riding and great footage. Thanks for the free film. Can't wait to see whats next.
