Unpredictable weather and extreme exposure can turn riding adventures into extreme situations. Knife edging along Rhyd Ddu on Snowdon became rather exciting - Laurence CE - www.laurence-ce.com
Photo is great no doubts about it, but I'd say that this is where applying the rule of thirds takes from the potential of the content. If composition was more centered, the overall impression would be even more spectacular. Anyways, that is awesome!
WAKI if you look at it this photo does use the rule of thirds, on a horizontal plane, and the riders not being centered shows how they are moving left to right and also top to bottom, you can picture where they were and where they are going. I agree with you though, there is nothing wrong with looking at a great picture, admitting it is not the perfect picture, and saying what could possibly make it better. To say otherwise would be like saying 'this is the best picture that could ever possibly be taken.'
No I don't know everything but I know a lot, and rather about composition as I earn my living by creating pictures. Composition is used not only in photography, yet I bet I take above average pictures when I use a proper camera.
It's amazing how the fog and lack of trees is so disorienting. It looks like they're coming off the peak of a shark tooth mountain. Freakin rad though, whatever the hell is going on here.
"but I know a lot"...haha you're not allowed to talk anymore. This photo is unbelievable. Almost as unbelievable as your ridiculous ego. If you really "earn your living" with pictures then you know when to shut up and appreciate a photo.
I did Snowdon in 2011. Came down the rangers path though. That route in the photo looks scary to me.. You don't want to make a mistake up there!
There are summer restrictions on mountain biking on the Snowdon trails between 10am and 5pm from May 1st to September 30th, So if you're going in the summer it will be an early or a late ride for you buddy! But it's worth it.
Great photo btw...
When i did Snowdon i did it in basically the exactly same conditions than this photo and i remember ride this part thinking the exact same thing as those riders are probably thinking 'Holy shit' haha basically a vertical drop each side.
I've done it once but we definitely must have chosen the most dull route back down. Was no way near as good as this looks. We couldn't really see anything so figured going down what we had come up was probably a sensible idea. Was still good fun either way.
Yeah we hadn't necessarily intended to ride the main Llanberis track, just pussied out due to crap visibility. Apparently that's not a legitimate excuse looking at the pic above though.
Great pic but not a true reflection of that part of the ridge as the pic is so distorted.
Its much wider and less steep than the photo implies. Great shot all the same.
