 Here is a link to the a map of the trail that you will find this on... photo taken where on Small Water which is near the top of the loop on the map. Best way to do it is bottom loop clockwise and top loop anti-clockwise. One of the great trails of the lakes!

 Gatesgarth has had some work done that was unnecessary and some of the upper corners have been spoilt a bit but its still rough and rocky as hell.......

 I did it once when I was 12. It was on purpose and it was deep mud. My bike has never recovered from sand in bearings. I also did it couple times lately and accidentaly when it seemed shallow when I was crossing small rivers at speed. One thing I admit. It is cold when shoes dry for three days and it is still miles to go.
