Nice idea! how does it work with the zee rear mech though and what size ring is that?
  • 1 0
fitted it with a 40t and the Zee is pretty maxxed out but its shifting well on the stand.I had to fit an extra link to cope with the chain growth, chain is a bit slack in 9th gear and there is quite a lot of tension on the chain in 1st so there is some drag on the drivetrain.

I dont really use the 36t much, so it will be fine for occasional bailout use, might stick a 38 instead or even try a 42/44 and a med cage with a larger front, nice thing is you can fit whatever size you like or have kicking about in the spares box.

but I think I'd stick to just use a double ring if I was somewhere with big climbs/ descents and less mud Wink

gave it a proper testing and a b screw tweak. its running really well with the zee , not too slack in 9th and a lot less drag with the extra link, i think the drag more to do with the chainline now Smile might try it with a 10 speed chain to see if it reduces it.

iffy - this is a great idea. Can you post a pic of the installed parts? I'm struggling to get my head around the positioning of cog spacers/bolts etc. Don't the chainring bolts foul the chain when it's in the next gear down?
