For the record, he didn't receive the settlement because of the mental anguish he suffered from performing the pepper spraying. He was paid though workman's compensation for mental anguish after Anonymous posted his personal information online and he received tens of thousands of angry e-mails and letters from people around the world. As you can imagine that would take quite the toll. I'm not defending the man's initial actions, but he likely has legitimate mental issues now, least of which is severe anxiety and possible depression.
That's somewhat irrelevant regarding the Occupy pepper spray incident though. That is his normal wage.
But it is way more than he should be making. Way more than any cop should be making, "riot control" or otherwise unless they are working in a particularly high-crime or high-risk area.
You may. But I don't think they deserve over 100k a year. My father was a firefighter for 30 years and he made less than that risking his life every day.
Yeah I don't like the movement either. But you're right, they should not have been pepper sprayed. Especially since the spray used was military-grade with a 6-foot minimum spray distance.
