The ACR is an overpriced piece of garbage. Too much built-in ergonomics that really don't work for everyone. Just stick with the AR platform. You can get an ambidextrous side-charging upper receiver to function just like the ACR, and it will end up costing you 1/3 as much to build the whole rifle.
When you say "carbine length gas system" all it means is that the gas tube is the proper length for a carbine. There is carbine, mid, and full length gas systems. I run a mid length on my rifle. But calling a rifle a carbine means you're calling it an SBR.
He just repainted his when he was cleaning it. I'm sure he loves his guns more than his family lol.
