The Surge is a great all round frame for anyone who likes to go hard in all kinds of conditions. It’s a pure freeride hardtail with a slack head angle and lower bottom bracket. Perfect for new school freeride, yet at the same time comfortable on longer rides and great for dirt jumping.
NS believe that steel is the best material for this kind of frame giving the bike a great feel and making it absolutely bombproof. It will work correctly with 140 – 170 mm forks and 650B or 26” wheels. For 2015 the frame is compatible with a 30.9 seatpost which means you can fit your favourite dropper post easily.

Yeah I've seen a guy who has the 2014 Surge Evo in red and has fitted 27.5/650b wheels to it, and the rear fits fine apparently with a chunky Maxxis 2.35" rear tyre. Even though the 2014 Surge can be bought cheap from CRC I'd still prefer to get the new 2015 model pictured above as it has the bigger seat post diameter, is 26"/650b compatible and other new features so worth the extra £150 to me. I just wonder how much the difference is in the geo between the 2014 and 2015 frames....
