Beautiful. Any insider tips on stopping the damn chain slap? Or is it put up with it or add extra padding to chain stay?

So does the VPP necessitate the use of a medium cage on the X01 DH?

Yes, the V10 needs a medium cage X01DH derailleur.

Sometimes suspension linkages cause chainstays to shorten under compression, so a longer cage is required to take up the chain slack.

Well no...if the chainstays lengthened then you wouldn't need the medium cage to take up the extra slack, because lengthening the stays would cause the chain to become tighter, not looser.

Take a look at what the lower link does when you cycle the suspension. things will become clear then.

I'm not saying that VPP doesn't cause the chainstay to lengthen. I'm saying that lengthening the stays shouldn't necessitate the use of a medium cage.
