You should check for cracks around the headtube and bb area. My voltage FR had cracks all around the BB, headtube and chainstay, Got a new one on warranty and sold that bastard.

cheers ive sen a lot of photos. but I check quite a lot. I don't think I had the post in far enough. I had it in at the minimum insertion point but I think that wasn't enough

Yeah, sometimes you have to have the seat post under the mark on the post.
