So deep, so quaint and very beautiful!
I really enjoy seeing this greenery everyday!
Is that a camp site with cabins?

I was in Tokushima and Ehime for a month when I was in College.
Good times but no biking.
I went snowboarding instead! hhahah But it was indoor snowboarding.
What a big surprise compared to big mountain snowboarding! hahahhahh

I'm not sure what this is. I think it's a farm of some kind with a metal clad thatch roof. I think this was in Tokushima but might have also been in Kochi prefecture. I was touring on a motorcycle at the time and stopped to take this picture.

Well it came out great. Many of the thatch roofs have been covered with metal here too. I guess no one want to keep up the maintenance.

have you ever heard of the Chiiori Trust?

We went as a family and it was great! A very cool story and stunning setting. Deep green valleys and total silence. A little chunk of heaven.

A lot! But they are shared with everyone. It means you need to keep a sharp eye out for hikers who may or may not know or appreciate you being there. Also very raw and undeveloped. Fun in a totally different way than around here. As far as I saw it was all DH and all road accessible. I miss it sometimes but am grateful to have what we have here

just to add to that. The potential is limitless. What's missing appears to be a large riding scene. There is a strong one that's very devoted but it's a small number. Very high skill level, some of the best riders I've had the privilege to ride with but not too many of them. They went so far as to build a trail that starts at the top of a mountain high enough to have a para-gliding take off. It's inland but you can see the ocean. Very hidden and it was a great trail but hikers started to use it and created some attention to the riding that started to restrict access. Shame but they are simply outnumbered!

Still, sounds awesome! Some of my favorite trails are those which are not Mtb specific but chock full of flow and natural features like those often found in Japan. Trail user conflict is unfortunate.. The moto riders get a hard time from mountain bikers here in Cairns although many of the trails were enjoyed by moto well before mountain bikers, but of course many of the trails origins were as hunting trails used by indigenous peoples since long time!
