I'm trying to figure out whether to go x2 or float x for my patrol. I don't mind stiffer suspension, and like a pedaling platform that the float x provides. Is the x2 working pretty well with pedaling? or is it more linear through the beginning stroke?...sick bike btw! super clean looking!
Both are good options. If you want a pedalling platform go with the Float X though, the performance is very good. Having said that the anti-squat properties of this frame make it pedal very well anyway, so I cant say I miss the CTD. The Float X2 is much more sensitive in the initial stroke and copes with repeated compressions better than the X did. The Float X seemed to get a little overwhelmed in very choppy stuff, whereas this is in its element. Feels very supportive and bottomless, to the point where I have no volume spacers installed but had the largest one fox do on the Float X.
It's just the weight...my bike feels too heavy(not sure mine, but it shouldn't be too far off yours if I had an air shock) and I'm finding myself pedaling about 50% of the time. I put my Monarch back on to see if I was just crazy. Even though the monarch doesn't work for me super well, I could feel an immense difference in weight. The weight is all in the middle of the bike too, which is a big place for it to lose weight. The push is stunning though on downhills. It is so progressive and eats up anything. I feel like the X2 may work just fine for me though
