.. that piece was a circle patch specifically designed to prevent the seatpost tube from being ripped open.. .. the patch did do its job but unfortunately the bolt snapped about 3 millimeters to late and the mount impaled the tube in the middle..early PRE patch days an avalanche rider did this and ripped open the whole seatpost tube.. so the patch was planned to prevent this from ever happening again, or at least minimizing damage. usually the pivot bolt would snap on everyone elses but not me .. im the first to do this since the first guy pre patch well over ten years ago.. Just found out more history and am still overwhelmed by the care and thought put into the LINK.. I dont want to go back to these mere mortal bike designs. I PRAY that this will be able to be mended..

MT7 magura's to fn strong man.. had a lot of problems/ situations with the floater since the beginning of the season. Plus this bike really has unbelievable mileage on it and possibly one of the most. Since its birth about 10-12 years ago, almost every weekend in a season, its there descending the Gnarly trails the North east has to offer,, mostly Plattekill..MOST bikes cant even breath a word about living so long.. It's second hand now for 3 years and its original master was a Monster of a rider. I feel unbelievably horrible that this happened.. Its like borrowing your mates car then destroying it.

Shit happens, wasn't you're fault, it's an easy fix stop worrying, but you'll have to paint it, blessing in disguise i reckon Wink

That hurts just to look at! But at the same time, a competent TIG welder should be able to patch that up with ease.
