Sweet new build and something a bit fresher among the Rocky Mountains I used to see from you Bet it will be a killer ride for the type of trails you have there. Hope she will serve you well
Nice to hear the kind inherit the good, older frames. Recycling surely is the way to go!
And thank you for liking the Packman harness. Many more products will be available. www will be up and running shortly.
Cheers Niko.. was looking for something in the realm of your Soda and this came up for a bargain! Floats so much nicer than the fire eye and pedals comfortably up hill like a tractor.. slow but comfy!
Thanks Sshredder.. yes, new ride! After riding Niko's NS Soda at xmas time in Japan I was looking for something similar. The SX came up for a steal on the used market at just the right time. Is 160 Float up front which is nice as I pedal up a lot as well as down!
Awesome bike. I know a few guys who had either this or the short travel one and they absolutely love it.
About the sweet spot on the rear, I am already shittin myself. My new bike will be a VPP design with Cane Creek. I chose coil because I have no time for setting up the air version, taking my precious little time on the bike, and servicing it off the bike. From what I've heard, the best is always to experiment with SAG first. If the shock is CTD though, then you'll have some serious trouble :/
Sounds awesome Waki.. cant wait to see your new steed! It is indeed CTD, initial tweaking failed to deliver sufficient ramp up and felt a bit slug like thru travel on 1rst ride. Would love to stick a coil on here but may not be room!
As I feared. Get an older RP23 with Boost Valve then. CTDs are impossible to get them fixed. I PUSHed mine for the Blur. Didn't do much and guys at TF Tuned said there's not much to be done with them. My bike felt over-damped all the time and SAG setting was quite crucial withing 5PSI. I felt like I have half ot he travel of the previous Nomad.
I have had two bikes with CTD and loved it. Nice bike josh . I love these bikes . I had a ride on one a while ago with the most basic of spec and it felt great. Really good climber too
2nd ride in.. upped the pressure to 175psi in the rear from 150 and kept the rebound 2 clicks out from full rabbit. Seems to have done the trick! Thanks Waki for the suggestion on the older RP23 with boost.. will look into that as a future replacement. Thanks Mick! The CTD is handy on those long climbs and now that I have upped the pressure seems to be working fine.
It was the same case for me - upping the pressure, running around 20% SAG. Then it worked acceptably for most of the time, but unfortunately on the fun rough bits bike felt almost like. Kept me on my toeas for most of the time
Still running the Turner as my trail bike! Got the meta used at a steal to replace the fire eye match. I was initially going to upgrade the fire eye with new suspension and a dropper post but the cost of upgrade was more than asking price on the meta sx!
so many bikes and only one life to try them all, eh? I'm in the process of replacing my spitty. It was awesome but want a bit more something something. Stay tuned
already made it! I sold the spitty last Friday and placed my order for something new. Time to wait for a shipment and the build begins! a video can be expected of course
Bet it will be a killer ride for the type of trails you have there. Hope she will serve you well
