This made my morning. The shear joy of playing on that bike is totally evident. It just goes to show how bikes can affect someone. Smiles, happiness, excitement, all the things that humans need!

Thanks. I thought it was a great picture. A simple Afghan man on a high end piece of technology. We now have an Afghan interpreter who wants to go up the mountain with us on one of our spare bikes. For the first time we can have a full blown conversation with Nakibullah.

@MWasson: how cool is that. I can only imagine the conversation over tea...

@bkchef2000: I am sure he will be asking for a bike of his own. The issue is that even if we did give him one, they cannot maintain them and have no way to get parts after we leave. Sad story..

@MWasson: I figured as much, but I bet he has been just fine without all the futuristic add ons we use... I honestly enjoy speaking to people from different cultures, countries, etc.. my comment was more to do with just talking to someone like him and less about the bikes... but i am sure he is going to ask again!

Yea, I thought it was super cool....but he is riding with sandals and no helmet! He asked me to leave the bike with him when I depart Afghanistan...he does not understand how much these things cost to build!
