From what I understand, the NSMBA build the new stunt slightly ahead of time of actually receiving the permit from DNV. Permit they were supposed to receive anyways. Then someone saw the newly built structures and reported them so that DNV had to punish the NSMBA for not respecting the timing... That punishment was to tear the structures down. I also heard that in the end they actually had the permit in due form somewhere. In any case right now it's really sad. However, again from what I understood, the permit is to be applied for and the trail eventually rebuilt.
Well this makes no sense especially in light of the trail report by the NSMBA that DNV parks has now closed Pink Starfish. There's so much work to be done where the NSMBA has a permit. Why not wait for the permit and do things right? The NSMBA has a full-time paid staffmember to administer permits. Podolski is a paid trail builder. We're not talking a bunch of volunteers here.
And I don't know what you mean by they had the permit anyway. Either they had the permit or they didn't. If they had the permit to build these structures and DNV still told them to take it down then that's on DNV. If NSMBA didn't have the permit then they're building unsanctioned structures on DNV land. Which is a hell of a "stunt"for a trail organization who's getting 100k in funding from DNV to try to pull.
Either way PS was a trail that was open and perfectly fine to ride. Now because of this gongshow PS is now "closed/decommissioned" (someone want to take a stab at what this means??). It sucks to lose a trail
You know, we're both guessing here. I'll just go ask the NSMBA and the DNV and will post up what I find here.
North shore is gay. Yes this derogatory remark is poiticaly incorect. Did you see the wood work cut down wih the chain saw? Dangerous? Driving a f*cking car is far more dangerous! Shore like stunts. What a f*cking joke!
@T-ROB: ??? I prefered the old woodwork anyhow. The new stuff is significantly easier. The trail should have been left hard. But I'm not the one replacing the woodwork so its not my call. Better to have a trail to ride than no trail.
I'm curious to know why NSMBA marked this trail as closed/decommissioned in Trailforks. I asked the NSMBA why they marked the trail closed in their instagram but they deleted my question. Then after i reposted my question they deleted their instagram picture.
